PATROL UPDATE
There are two teams of patrols –
the orange team and the black
team. One team will be on duty for
two weeks, while the other team
has those two weeks off. Please
check the schedules posted at
school and on the class website.
Currently, the orange team is on
duty. The black team will start
duties on September 27.

MAP TESTING
MAP Testing began this week. MAP
stands for Measures of Academic
Progress. We will be taking this test
three times throughout the year to
monitor the progress of each student
in reading and math. Our class is
scheduled to take the math MAP test
on Thursday, September 30th. More
MAP test information and scores will
be shared at conferences.
 ROOM 113 – CLASS NEWS

WHAT’S GOING ON THIS WEEK?
This week we started working with our
math curriculum. Our first unit focuses on
fluency and computation. We are learning
different strategies to help us with our
multiplication and division facts. Look for daily
math homework coming home each day.
We also started our first IB Planner,
titled The Human Machine. We started off by
tracing our bodies and drawing all we knew
about different systems of the body. We also
started spelling this week. Each Monday, we
will do a pre-test so that students know which
words they need to study. We will also be
spending 15-20 minutes each day throughout
the week working on our spelling words in
some way.
We are still working together every
day to establish a positive community in our
classroom. We are very fortunate to have such
a caring and empathetic class. Have a great
week! 
SCHOOL FUNDRAISER
The Matoska International PTO
announces the Innisbrook fall fundraiser
which starts on Monday, September
20th with orders accepted until Friday,
October 1st. All money earned directly
benefits our students and school and is
used to fund classroom support, school
events and enrichment programs.
Please check your child's backpack for
your sales packet on Monday,
September 20th. If you have any
questions regarding the Innisbrook
fundraiser, please contact the MIPTO
Innisbrook coordinator, Cari Green at
651-231-6907. The MIPTO thanks you
for your participation and support!
CONFERENCES
Please contact your classroom teacher as soon as
possible to schedule a conference time if you have
not done so already. Conferences are less than a
month away!

HOMEWORK CURRICULUM NIGHT CONTACT INFORMATION:

The first homework packet of the year went
home today. Students will be getting a
homework packet every Friday and are expected
to complete and return it the following Friday.
Please read the cover page of the homework for
more specific directions.
5th Grade Curriculum Night is scheduled for
Wednesday, September 22 from 6:00-7:00pm. Lori Felton
