LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

It gives me great pleasure to recommend Roshini Koppala for admission to

Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering offered by School of Chemical
and Biomedical Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. I
have known Roshini for the last four years and have taught her core subjects
like Basic Electronics, Digital Signal Processing and Management and
Entrepreneurship.

Roshini is a very hardworking and intelligent student. She is highly matured and
her apparent enthusiasm and interest in the subject is supported by her diligent
work. She has an inquisitive mind and armed with good knowledge and
understanding of the subject. She has shown consistent performance in her
academics by securing a CGPA above 9/10 and I am certain she will add value
to any program she joins.

Roshini has shown great initiative in obtaining internships and training

programs outside college programs. She has attended training programs at
Yokogawa India Limited conducted for ‘Yokogawa field instruments’ and at
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (A govt. Of India undertaking) conducted for
‘Training in flight test instrumentation and data handling of helicopters’. She
has also successfully completed a two-month summer research internship at
Arizona State University, USA under the School of Biological Health systems
engineering in the Neural Control of Movement lab. Her topic of research was
‘Shear force device: Used to investigate the role of finger motion and tactile
feedback to determine the perception of finger position’ which has boosted her
confidence immensely. She has shown keen interest in research by actively
participating in research conducted in college in the area of ‘Artificial
Intelligence (Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition)’.

She has been part of many mini projects right from her first year of engineering.
For the final year project she is working on ‘Virtual eye: Reading aid for the
blind’ which involves the concepts of image processing, microcontrollers and
coding. It is mainly used to help blind people read by the conversion of an
image of the text to an audio signal which can be heard by the visually
challenged person. It has high social relevance and is a very interesting project
considering that this section of image processing is a current field of research
going on in many parts of the world. Her complete dedication, hard work and
enthusiasm of working in a team are commendable.
Roshini has also completed certified courses in Basic Java and Web
Development (HTML, CSS, Java script, PHP). Apart from academics, she
actively participates in extracurricular activities like organising department fests
and has taken up social responsibility by participating in blood donation camps.

I believe she can meet the high standards set by your prestigious institution.
Hence, I strongly recommend her candidature for the course applied with
financial assistance.

If I can be of any further assistance, Please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Yours Sincerely,

G.Shivaprakash
