HIV/Aids

An example of a destructive infectious disease is Aids. Aids is the worst phase of an HIV

infection, which stands for human immunodeficiency virus. Once HIV is in your body, there is

no treatment to fully cure it. People that have Aids have severely damaged immune systems. The

weakness of this immune system allows greater access for other infections/diseases to enter into

the body’s system and potentially kill the person. HIV/Aids is a very harmful disease that can

lead to many problems.

If you end up obtaining Aids or HIV, there are many symptoms that come along with it.

Some of these symptoms include swollen lymph glands, diarrhea, high fevers, shortness of

breath, deep coughs, and even unintended weight loss. Although these symptoms are very broad,

they do take a lot of time to appear. People with HIV do not begin seeing symptoms for up to ten

years. These symptoms can be very painful after obtaining Aids.

There are many causes that must occur to get HIV or Aids. First off, HIV is causes by

contact with infected blood, semen, or vaginal fluids. This mean that most people get it by

having unprotected sex. Another way to get is through kissing. Although this is very rare, and

hardly ever happens, it is still possible. Saliva can transfer it into another person while kissing,

but it is more likely if your partner has bleeding gums or sores in their mouths. After HIV is in
you, you then have the chance of catching Aids. HIV is caused by many things and can later lead

to the disease of Aids.

If you do seem to think that you have Aids or HIV, the diagnoses plan can be tested

through your blood or saliva for antibodies to the virus. On the down side, this process takes a

relatively long time because it takes your body up to 12 weeks to develop these antibodies. Since

this process takes so long, there is one other way to test for HIV which takes a much shorter

time. This test checks for HIV antigen, which is a protein produced by the virus right after the

infection takes place. This confirms that the virus is in your body shortly after the Infection.

These are two ways to diagnose weather you have HIV/Aids or not.

Statistically, many cases of aids are reported in the United States. By the end of 2014, 35

million people reported that they were living with Aids. Out of this 35 million, 1.1 million of

those people come from the United States. This infectious disease affects populations in certain

areas. One of these areas that is affected greatly is Africa. Aids is a huge problem in the world

and statistics show that at least 35 million people have it.

In conclusion, Aids is an infectious disease that comes from the worst form of HIV. Once

this disease enters your body, there is no way of getting rid of it completely. There are many

things that cause aids, and many symptoms once it is acquired. Statistics show that Aids is a big

problem in the world, and it is a very dangerous infectious disease.
