Language functions: identifying actions and situations; asking and answering questions;
Anticipated problems:
Some students may not be familiar with certain words;
Some students may not remember previous information about the grammar issues;
Some students may be shy to speak English. The teacher will encourage them to speak
English (and to have fun, miming). If they remain silent, they are less likely to learn. The
T will explain to them that it is better for them to risk getting something wrong, than not
to say anything. All learners need to experiment and make errors.

Procedure:
The Ss read the text. (Worksheet 1)
T asks students a few questions related to the text:
Where does the action take place in The Lazy Bear? (in the forest)
When does the action take place? (in spring, in summer, in autumn, in winter)
Who is the main character? (Bruno, the lazy bear)
How is Bruno? Why is Bruno so lazy? (Bruno is very sleepy. Bruno sleeps in all four seasons of
the year)

SPEAKING AND WRITING
Aim: to revise the use of Present Tense Simple and Continuous
Procedure:
The Ss notice that in the text “The Lazy Bear” there are verbs at Present Tense Simple
and Continuous. They revise the difference between these two aspects of the verb
(Present Simple Tense shows a repeated, habitual action/ Present Simple Continuous
expresses the idea that the action is happening at the moment of speaking, now).
T generates a discussion moment in order to highlight the Present Simple:
Why, at the end of the story, are the animals very happy? (Reading from the text: They are
having a party.)
What are we doing now? What are you reading now? What are you learning at the moment?
T writes on the blackboard the form, the use and the specific adverbs of the two tenses.
The Ss solve an exercise (Worksheet 2)
Procedure:
T gives the Ss worksheet 3 or 4 (depending on the student's ability to use English)
The Ss have to unscramble the sentences and then ask their partners the questions or just
to circle the correct answer.
Procedure:
T gives the Ss worksheets with the lyrics of a song with missing words – In the Snow.

The T checks the task and gives guidance for a correct solving of the exercise.
The T appreciates the active pupils and gives advice to the less active ones.

It’ s spring in the forest. The grass and the leaves are growing and the animals are
waking up.
Bruno, the bear, is still asleep. He doesn’t know that it’s spring. “Listen! Bruno is
snoring!”
Now it’s summer. It’s warm and the animals are having lots of fun. Bruno likes to
play and swim with his friends. But where is he?
Bruno is still sleeping. He doesn’t know that it’s summer. Sometimes he sleeps too
much.
Now it’s autumn. The leaves are turning red, yellow and orange. The animals are
getting ready for winter. But where is Bruno? His friends are so worried!
Now it’s winter. You can’t see the animals. They’re all asleep in their warm
