What is a hearing impairment?
An impairment in hearing, whether
permanent or fluctuating, that
adversely affects a child’s
educational performance but is not
included under the definition of
“deafness.”
Types of hearing impairments

Conductive: Problem with Mixed: Sensorineural is


outer/middle ear permanent, while conductive is
either permanent or temporary

Sensorineural: Cochlea and/or the Auditory Processing Disorders:


auditory nerve is damaged or Brain has problems processing
malfunctions information contained in sound
