Summary – What’s New In This Notice

In accordance with the S8800 End of Sale Notice dated October 25, 2010 (revised November 4,
2010); the S8800 servers for the Avaya applications listed below have reached a stock-out
situation. The replacement Avaya Common Servers HP ProLiant DL360 G7 and Dell PowerEdge
R610 are generally available and should be substituted for future orders of these applications.
The order codes that are out-of-stock and the replacement order codes are provided below. Note
two additional codes added since January 10, 2011.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This notice is based solely on Avaya's inventory position for the affected
codes. In cases where S8800 inventory exists at stocking distributors, the distributors should
continue to quote and sell the S8800 codes in accordance with the normal ordering guidelines.

As the transition from S8800 servers to the new Avaya Common Servers continues, more S8800
order codes will reach stock out condition. Customer orders for S8800 servers not included in this
list should be placed as soon as possible. For further information, please check the Common

For Action: Ordering Guidelines

1. New Quotes or Designs

Effective immediately, for orders intended for Avaya, no new quotes or designs should be created
for the out of stock codes indicated above. Avaya and Partner Sales teams working on new
quotes or designs in ASD must select the replacement codes as indicated above. For orders
intended for stocking distributors who may still have stock, please check with your stocking
distributor. Quotes or designs may still be appropriate for the stock out codes above.

Notes:
• The order codes in the table released February 21, 2011 are all in “P1” status in the
Avaya SAP system. There may be a delay for the Sales Status Code (SSC) on further
stock out order codes to change from “G” to “P” in SAP as SSC changes are only made
on a quarterly basis. SSC changes will be made on February 7, 2011, May 2, 2011,
August 1, 2011 and November 7, 2011.
• There may also be a delay in when the replacement code will be specified in Avaya
Solution Designer (ASD) for quotes. Changes in ASD will occur only on the first Monday
of each month during the calendar year. The Design Adjustment feature in ASD may be
used to alter the quote manually from the stock out code to the replacement code when
creating a quote, where that feature is available. Alternatively, the order based on a quote
may be manually adjusted to the replacement code prior to placing the order.
• The alternate Common Servers for Communication Manager, Session Manager and
System Manager are the Dell PowerEdge R610. ASD does not show the alternate server.
Orders based on an ASD quote may be manually changed from the main server to the
alternate. Alternate servers are not stocked and a 20 to 25 day lead time applies on all
orders for alternate servers.
• For the Video Collaboration Early Adopter Kit, ASD shows the S8800 Collaboration
server. However, when an order is created for this Kit, the new Collaboration Midsize
Enterprise Solution (MES) server is substituted for the S8800 server. The Collaboration

 MES server has been released in advance of the MES application to replace the S8800
Collaboration server.

2. Existing Orders in Process

The Avaya Order Management team will contact the originators of orders in process to confirm
the substitution of the new products and will then substitute and fulfill these orders as appropriate.
In instances where customers are not able to accept the substitution given certifications,
implementation dates, etc. the product management and order management teams will work to
resolve the issue.

3. Outstanding Existing Quotes

On existing quotes which identify the S8800 server, the appropriate new server can be
substituted if there is no stock of the S8800 server. Alternatively, a new quote can be obtained
which will include the new server. Your order can be raised with the new server.

Appendix A – Application Transition Table
The following table provides the application transition plan from the S8800 servers to the HP
DL306 G7 and Dell R610 servers. Phase 1 covers transitions in November and December 2010.
Phase 2 covers transitions in February and March 2011. Phase 3 covers transitions in April and
May 2011. This table will be updated upon release of any revisions. Note: dates are subject to
