Sometimes, the things students nag about can actually save their lives. Fire drills, for instance. Never mind the scorching
heat of the sun or the mushy school grounds, class interruptions or the after-drills lectures they believe are boring, because
all of these are for everyone's safety. Thanks to Department of Education for issuing the Guidelines on Strengthening the Fire
Safety and Awareness Program (FSAP), there will be more to nag or more likely, there will be more resilient, fully aware and
much responsible beings at school. The DepEd teaching and non-teaching personnel’s are of no exemption to this too. If
guidelines are met, it should at least minimize fire threats.
The Order aims to establish specific roles, responsibilities, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for the Fire Safety
and Awareness Program (FSAP) effective through the DepEd order nos. 72, s. 2017 and 13, s. 2013. This further emphasizes
the strict compliance in facilitating the Fire Code to schools. With Fire Code, as stated in the Order, means the standard fire

Initiatives like this are not new at all but so is death by fire. It might be cliché but it is the best way to say it: its better be safe
than sorry.
