If any of the following listed below happen during the course of a warranty repair
requiring an ECM calibration, a password will be required for the calibration. In any of
these four scenarios, claim the calibration password by claiming part number
3886396 in the parts section, along with a detailed description of why it was
needed in the claim narrative.
All Warranty claims for ECM calibrations regardless if they are listed in the
below matrix, must contain three pieces of information in the claim story:
1. A clear description of the issue that was addressed by recalibrating the ECM.
2. The ECM code and corresponding revision that was in the ECM
when the troubleshooting process began.
The ECM code and corresponding revision that was installed in the ECM to correct the
engine symptom.

*If a warrantable reason causes a need for a calibration password, the distributor
will claim the part number for the calibration on the warranty claim. Warrantable
reasons include 1.) The calibration fails and places the ECM in a ROM booted
state, or 2.) The module is ROM booted as a result of a troubleshooting tree, or
3.) The module is ROM booted as a result of INSITE™ to alleviate a freeze-up,
or 4.) The calibration is in an Industrial engine with a calibration prefix of "X," or
5.) As a result of direction provided within a Service publication.
Note: In all cases above, there are no additional charges to dealers or customers
for Policy, Warranty, or Extended Coverage repairs.
