ZXUR 9000 Service subrack Introduction
ZXUR 9000 Rack

ZXUR 9000 includes two types of subracks:

 Master subrack, service handling plus O&M and
clock function, compulsory
8 for configuration.
 Slave subrack, service handling, configured based
on capacity requirement, configured from 1-2. ZXUR 9000 subrack (Front, Rear, Side view)
Components of each subrack (from top to
bottom) :  19 inch standard subrack
 FAN unit (3 FANs, 2 for front subrack heat
 Front and rear plug-in subrack for each subracks, each
dissipation, 1 for rear subrack heat dissipation)
have 14 slots
 Plug-in boards (front board 8U, rear board 9U)
 Processing boards and O&M boards in front shelves ,
 Power unit (each subrack configure 2)
designed with ATCA standard board

 Interface boards and switching boards in rear shelves

Distributed design, resource pool for service handling ensure high

reliability, strong processing capability with high efficiency.

ZXUR 9000 Board Classification

Switching board deals with the switching in control

Switching Board plane (BASE) and media plane (FABRIC). Besides the
intra-subrack switching, it also provides switching
channels for all inter-subrack communication.

Processing board handles the protocol processing

Processing Board in control plane and user plane, and is responsible
for the overall processing and control in terms of
O&M.

Interface board offers access of STM-1, E1/T1,

Interface Board CSTM-1, FE GE(10GE) via interfaces including A,
Abis, Gb, Iu, Iub and Iur to meet various
requirements of networking.

Position and Function of Processing Board

 UMP1c (Universal Management Process board 1c )

 It provides global management processing and maintenance function.
 It implements NE operation and maintenance functions. It is connected to the
EMS through the GE interface on the rear board EGBS2a.
 The slot number for NE operation and maintenance functions is 5-6, and for
OMP is 7-8 in master subrack.

 USP2a (Universal Service Processing Board 2a )

 USP2a fulfills service processing function, including the GSM/UMTS control
plane and user plane protocol stack processing.
 Slot numbers from 1 to 4 and from 9 to 14 (for master subrack, 1 to 14 for
slave shelves)

© ZTE All rights reserved 13

Position and Function of Processing Board

 ETCB (Enhanced Trans Coder Board):

 ETCB converts the voice codes of the radio interface to PSTN A-law PCM
voice codes, and vice versa. In addition, it adapts the rates (including the
rates of data services) between these two types of codes.
 Apply to GSM only
 Slot numbers from 1 to 4 and from 9 to 14 (for master subrack, 1 to 14 for
slave shelves)

Position and function of Switching Board

 EGBS2a( Enhanced GE Base Switch board 2a):

 Implements inter-subrack control plane switching and provides media plane
GE interfaces to all service slots and rear switching slots, and inter-subrack
cascade GE interface. The slot number for EGBS2a is 19-20.
 EGBS2a in master subrack is also in charge of the control plane channel
between slave shelves and master subrack.
 The EGBS2a board only supports the BETC/3 backplane

 EXFS1a( Enhanced XGE Fabric Switch board 1a ):

 EXFS1a has a built-in clock module. The slot number for EXFS1a is 21-22.
 Implements inter-subrack media plane switching function, and inter-subrack
cascade 40 GE interfaces.
