Somebody has to go polish the stars,

They’re looking a little bit dull.
Somebody has to go polish the stars,
For the eagles and starlings and gulls
Have all been complaining they’re tarnished and worn.
They say they want new ones we cannot afford.
So please get your rags
And your polishing jars,
Somebody has to go polish the stars.
~ Shel Silverstein

“I
remember when a former coworker introduced me to
“Somebody Has To” by Shel Silverstein. For me, the
poem immediately begged the question: What needs
polishing in my life? The answer has varied over the
years, but one interpretation that has stuck is the stars representing
spiritual intuition. It’s like a muscle that needs exercise. Just as it takes
time to get to know a new friend, connecting with our inner selves
also requires conscious effort. I began hosting annual Starpolish
gatherings with close friends, lighting candles and setting up a variety
of introspective exercises around my home that focused on soul-
searching and meditation. They were magical evenings of connecting,
sharing, learning about ourselves, and getting excited about the next
steps in our lives.

Somebody has to go polish the stars. What does that mean to you?”

Choosing Your New Mower

WHAT TYPE OF MOWER FITS YOUR LAWN AND LIFESTYLE? / By James Reynolds

I t’s that time of year. The grass is growing with a vengeance.

Maybe your old mower is on its last legs, or maybe you’re just

● Flat yards can be easily mowed with any style of mower.

Hilly yards, however, may require a self-propelled walk-behind
