Wayne Rooney 9 September, Goodison Park
Everton are very much where Spurs
were three years ago – a club
perpetually on the outskirts of the
league’s top four, looking for a way
in. The club from north London
proved it can be done, finishing in
the Champions League positions
in the past two seasons. Everton
are in a strong position to achieve
the same feat, with astute manager
Ronald Koeman sanctioning over
£100-million in spending, including
the acquisition of one Wayne Rooney.
If Everton are to take the next step,
they will need to win home games
against top-four rivals, so expect
