Dear Judges,
My name is Asnina Maingua and for my senior exit I decided on the topic Racial profiling.
I chose to do this particular topic because I as for one and a victim.I feel that as a victim I am
personally profiled every day whether it’s by police or others.I basically go through this daily I
am profiled not only because of the color of my skin but also because of my religion. It does not
feel right to be asked if I am related to Osama Bin Laden, which believe it or not happens very
often.
Within recent years, incidents of racial profiling have drastically increased by over 500
percent whether it’s hatred of Muslims, Black Americans, or more, according to the American
Civil Liberties Union. They are all based off of dangerous racial stereotypes. Therefore, racial
profiling should be strictly punished because it brings political tensions, dehumanization and it
violates the constitution. Political tensions spawned the Black Lives Matter movement and the
profiling results in a waste of law enforcement resources. Dehumanization causes targets to be
placed on Muslims based on the fear of potential terrorism, it reflects historical stigmatization
on African Americans, and is a weapon of cultural mass destruction. Racial profiling goes
against both the 4th and the 14th amendment.
During my graduation project I learned how to place information into police computers. Also
learned that after showing up to incidents that police are called for, they have to write out what
exactly happened on the scene and how they approached the suspects/victims. I learned their
point of view through the incidents and walking me through the process.
For my personal growth I learned how to use my time wisely specifically when there is a due
date or time limit. One main thing I learned that contributing my time into the community is not
at all tough, you just have to put your mind into what you would like for a change. There are
many police programs in which helps with the community.
Sincerely,
Asnina Maingua
