Daily Lesson Plan

Teacher: Alondra Rivera Date: Unit/Theme: pirates


Enduring Understanding (Developmental Goals) Essential Questions:

Center: Writing

BEFORE LEARNING:

1. The teacher will start by saying “Good Morning boys and girls! Today we will be creating our very own
pirate books! What words do you think pirates use every day?”

DURING LEARNING:
 Detailed steps in a numbered list that explain how to teach the activity and what the child will be doing/learning.
 Include questions you will ask and vocabulary introduced.
1. The teacher will start by saying “Good Morning boys and girls! Today we will be creating our
very own pirate books! What words do you think pirates use every day?”
2. After the children have answered, the teacher will give each child a booklet, the teacher will
say, “This is our Itsy Bitsy Pirate Book, in this booklet, we have many words that pirates use,
first we will be tracing the words and saying them, and then we will color our pictures!”
3. The teacher will then say “Arg, you ready? Let’s trace!” the teacher will then give each child
their pencil and help them with each word.
4. Once the children have traced the word, the teacher will point to each letter and ask them “what
letter is this, and what sound does it make?”
5. After reading each letter, the teacher will sound out the letters and pronounce the words with the
children. This will go on until all the words have been traced.
6. The teacher will then say, “Thank you for completing all the missing pirate words, we can now
color our pirate pictures!”
AFTER LEARNING:
 How will you review to make sure the learning objectives and developmental goals have been met?
The teacher will end the lesson by asking the children, “What words and letters did we trace today, which
picture was your favorite?”

CLOSURE: How will you end the lesson or activity?


The teacher will say, “Now that we are all finished, take your name tag and go sit on the carpet.” Alternatively,
“Now that we finished our paintings, let’s go find another center to go to.”
