This is another peer reviewed article that offers the author’s insight about the subject of
socialism in the United States. The author discusses the overwhelming triumph of democratic
socialism. The author shares his research and conclusions based on his findings and therefore is
biased towards his side that socialism would not be successful in the US economy. According to
his brief autobiography, the author is a professor who writes about history can help illuminate the
economic challenges we face today. The online database that I retrieved this article from was
Gilabert, Pablo. "The Socialist Principle 'From Each According to Their Abilities, to Each
According to Their Needs'." Journal of Social Philosophy, vol. 46, no. 2, Summer 2015,
This article found on EBSCOhost is about socialism and all of the aspects needed to
fully understand and put socialism in place of our capitalistic government. The author highlights
key dimensions or focuses that socialism in a modern society would need to address and
consider. The author does a good job of evaluating past mistakes, and giving solutions or
suggestions for the future. The author, Pablo Gilabert, is an Associate Professor in the
Department of Philosophy at Concordia University and mainly studies ethics and social and
political philosophy. Within this article, Gilabert shows bias towards socialism and using
socialism in the future. His bias however, is not so prominent that it takes away from the overall
educating purpose.

Dr. Jerry Z. Muller is Professor of History at The Catholic University of America, where
he has taught since 1984. This article addresses the inequality that is associated with capitalism.
He goes in depth about how money, jobs and family matters play a role in this inequality as well
as solutions to fix it. EBSCOHost is a credible online database that presents peer reviewed

scholarly sources. Muller has written an abundance of published articles and books surrounding
government and the impact that they have. His many articles and essays have appeared in
scholarly journals as well as in Foreign Affairs, The New Republic, The Times Literary
Supplement, The Wall Street Journal, and The Wilson Quarterly. As educated as the author is, he
shows signs of strong bias towards capitalism. This strong bias can assist me in understanding

In this article, the author examines socialism and democratism and how they relate to the
election of the last President of the United States. The article states briefly each president’s views
and discusses in particular the views of Bernie Sanders. The author, John Nichols, is a
progressive American journalist and author. He is Washington correspondent for The Nation and
associate editor of The Capital Times. Nichols holds a master's degree from Columbia University
Graduate School of Journalism and bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin Parkside.
The author seems to have bias towards the former presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders and his
democratic socialism views. This article was written for The Nation, a news and informative
Nixon, Richard. "Address to the Nation on Labor Day.," September 6, 1971. Online by Gerhard
This is a speech written and presented by the former President of the United States. The
President spoke at Camp David in Maryland on labor day of 1971. In his speech, he addresses
the need for the people of the country to come together and work for the country as a whole. He
speaks to his audience about how work is the key factor in the society. The former president of
the United States of America is a credible source because he was former leader of the US and our
respectful leader. This was one of the stimulus sources for CBPT2 and it relates to my question
because it discusses the need for all of the people to work together as a whole to help the
economy prosper.

In this political cartoon, Ralph Chaplin illustrates his view of socialism and the idea of
everyone working together as a group. The purpose of this political cartoon was the IWW. The
aim of The Industrial Workers of the World was to unite in one body all skilled and unskilled
workers for the purpose of overthrowing capitalism and rebuilding society on a socialistic basis.
Ralph Chaplin was an American writer, artist and labor activist. Chaplin was active in the IWW
and became editor of its eastern U.S. publication Solidarity. Chaplin is very biased towards the

unification of workers and socialism and he shows this throughout his artwork and songs. He
was a leading activist in this movement and his bias can aid in the perspective of workers or

Smith, Adam. The Wealth of Nations, chapter 10, part 1. College Board, 13 March 2017.
The Wealth of Nations is about the inequality of work. Smith gives reasons that work is
not equal and also gives what is needed in order for work to be equal. This was one of the
stimulus sources provided to us by College Board. It is credible and reliable because it was
provided to us by College Board. The author, Adam Smith, was an economist, philosopher, and
author. He is known for being intelligent and thoughtful on these situations. Although he is an
expert, he shows bias towards his ideas. This is expected because he is giving evidence as to why
Spargo, John. “Socialism as a Cure for Unemployment.” The Annals of the American Academy
In this journal, the author states his opinion along with supporting evidence about why he
believes that capitalism is the cause of unemployment. He notes how with every instance of
capitalism there is always an abundance of citizens who are out of a job.The author presents a lot
of bias in this journal which is not ideal because I cannot see the opposing side to his argument.

Thompson, Derek. “A World Without Work” July/August 2015, The Atlantic, March 13, 2017
A world without work was another one of the stimulus sources provided to us by College
Board. This article is about the future of technology and how these advancements will affect the
people. The author uses a group of individuals whose technology is already advanced, in order to
accurately portray how the future might look. The author appears to be biased in his writing,
leaning more towards the fact that advancing technology would be good but would not outweigh
the disadvantages brought to the people. Overall this is a reliable source because it was given to

form of socialism) and explains the deepened philosophy of marxism. Lenin is the founder of the
Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks), inspirer and leader of the Bolshevik Revolution, and the
architect, builder, and first head of the Soviet state. For better or for worse, Lenin has been
regarded as both the greatest revolutionary leader and revolutionary statesman in history, as well
as the greatest revolutionary thinker since Marx. Vladimir Lenin is completely biased in this
article. He 100% supports communism in a way that could hinder my research. However this is a
credible and valuable source because I can thoroughly understand the main reasons for
