Learning Target: ​I can write a narrative to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, relevant descriptive details,
and well-structured event sequences.

Score Criteria

4 ● Clear beginning/exposition, description of setting, and introduction of characters


● Smooth progression of events including rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution
● Effective use of dialogue, description, pacing, reflection, and plot to develop characters and conflict
● Precise words and phrases, details, and sensory language
● Effectively describes how characters think and feel
● Very few or no errors in punctuation, formatting, capitalization, and grammar

3 ● Clear beginning/exposition, description of setting, and introduction of at least one character


● Generally smooth progression of events, including rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution
● Use of dialogue, description, pacing, reflection, and plot to develop characters and conflict
