Fraction – Numbers used to
name part of a
whole or part of a set.
Example:
Decimal – A way of writing
a fraction or mixed number
when the denominator is
10, 100, 1,000…
- It is a number more than
0 but less than 1.
Example: 0.12
Ratio – A comparison of
two or more quantities.
Example: 5:6
Proportion – An equation
that states that two ratios
are equal.
Example: 1:2 = 6:12
Percentage – The result of
finding a certain percent
of a number.
Example: 10 is 50%
of 20

Base – Is the number on
which the percentage is
computed.

Rate – Is the number


indicating how many
percent or hundredths
are taken.
Example: 10 is 50%

Commission – amount of
payment or incentive
received for serviced
rendered by the seller
of goods or properties
owned by another
individual or entity.
Example: My company
earns a commission
of 2.5% which is Php
50,000 for selling a
house and lot for
Php 2,000,000.
Commission = Php 50,000

Rate of Commission – Percent


on the amount of sales
that an agent or
salesman receives.
Example: My company
earns a commission
of 2.5% which is Php
50,000 for selling a lot
for Php 2,000,000.

2.5%

Selling Price – The price at


which the goods or
properties are sold.
Example: My company
earns a commission
of 2.5% which is Php
50,000 for selling a
lot for Php 2,000,000.

Net of Proceeds – amount
of money that an
owner gets or receives
for the sale.

Discount – is any
reduction in price.
Discount rate – Discount
states in terms
of percent.
List, marked, or
tag price – the regular
or original price
of an item sold.
Net or sale price – the
amount of an item
after deducting
the discount from
the original price.

Sales Taxes/Value-Added
Tax (VAT) – A form of a
sales tax. It is a tax on
consumption levied on
the sales, barter,
exchange, or lease
of goods or properties
and services on
importation of goods
in to the Philippines.

Tax – is the amount


imposed or charged
on the gross selling
price that the
purchaser pays to
the seller to be given
to the government.
EXPONENT – tells how
many times the base
number is multiplied
by itself.
