The Beast of Abaddon, Sheol

Gen1:2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the [abyss]. And the
Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Psa77:16 When the waters saw you, O God,
when the waters saw you, they were afraid; indeed, the abyss trembled. Hab3:10 The mountains
watched and trembled. Onward swept the raging waters. The abyss cried out, lifting its hands to the
LORD. Psa148:7 Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and the whole abyss. Job11:7-8 Can you
discover God's hidden secrets, or are you able to find the Almighty's limits? They are higher than the
heavens—what can you do? They are deeper than Sheol—what can you know? Job38:30 As a stone,
waters are hidden, and the face of the abyss is captured. Psa104:6 The abyss! as with clothing [God]
hast covered it, above hills do waters stand. Job26:5-6 Spirits of the Raphaim writhe in the waters from
under the earth. Sheol—[the realm of the dead]—is naked before God, and Abaddon—[the abyss of de-
struction in Sheol]—has no covering. Prov27:20 Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied, and never satis-
fied are the eyes of man. Prov9:18 But he knoweth not that the spirits of the Raphaim are there; That
Folly's guests are in the depths of Sheol. Psa49:13-14 This is the destiny of fools, and of those who ap-
prove of their philosophy. Like sheep they are headed for Sheol; Death will shepherd them. The upright
will rule over them in the morning, and their form will waste away in Sheol, far from their lofty abode.
Psa88:11 Will God's loving kindness be declared in the grave, His faithfulness in Abaddon? Psa16:10
[God] will not abandon me to Sheol; [He] will not allow [His] faithful follower to see the abyss.
Luke8:31 The demons begged Jesus not to order them to go into the abyss. Rev9:11 They had a king
over them, which is the angel of the abyss, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the
Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. Matt16:18 I tell you Peter, it is upon you that I will build my
congregation, and the gates of [Sheol] will not prevail against it. Hosea 13:14 I will ransom them from
the power of Sheol; I will redeem them from death; O death, I will be thy end; O Sheol, I will be thy de-
struction. Repentance shall be hid from my eyes. Luke10:15 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up
to heaven? No, you will be brought down to [Sheol]. Luke16:23 And suffering in [Sheol], [a rich man]
lifted up his eyes from afar off and he saw Abraham, and Lazarus in his bosom. Rom10:7 Who shall de-
scend into the abyss? (that is, to bring Christ up from out of the dead.) Am9:2 Though they dig down to
Sheol, from there My hand will take them; and though they climb up to heaven, from there I will pull
them down. Eph4:9 Now that Christ ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower
parts of the earth? 1Pet3:19-20 Christ then preached to the spirits that were being kept in prison. Who
formerly were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the
ark was being prepared, by which a few, that is, eight souls were saved through water. 1Pet4:5-6 They
will have to face God, who will judge everyone, both the living and the dead. For the gospel has for this

purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they
may live in the spirit according to the will of God. Job28:22 Abaddon and Death say, "We have heard
news of it with our ears." Jude1:6 And the angels who did not stay within their own domain, but aban-
doned their proper dwelling, He keeps under darkness, in eternal chains for judgment on that great day.
2Pet2:4-5 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into Tartaros—[the depths of
Abaddon]—and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; and did not
spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah and seven others; 2Pet2:9 Then the Lord knows how to res-
cue the godly from trials and to hold [captive] the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.
Deu32:22 For a fire is kindled by my anger, and it burns to the depths of Sheol, devours the earth and its
increase, and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains. Rev20:1-3 Then I saw an angel coming
down from heaven with the key to the abyss, holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, the
ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. And he threw him into
the abyss, shut it, and sealed it over him, so that he could not deceive the nations until the thousand years
were complete. After that, he must be released for a brief period of time. Isa14:9 Sheol below is agitated
to meet [him] at [his] coming—all the Raphaim are roused, the chief ones of the earth; all the kings of
the nations arise from their thrones. Isa14:15 Yet, into Sheol, into the recesses of the [abyss] [he] is
brought down. Rev17:8 The beast that you saw was, and now is no more, but is about to come up out of
the abyss and go to its destruction. And those who dwell on the earth whose names were not written in
the book of life from the foundation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast that was,
and is not, and yet will be. Job41:9 Behold, your expectation is false; Will you not be laid low even at
the sight of him? 2Thess2:3 Don't let anyone deceive you in any way. For that day will not come unless
the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of [Apollyon]. Prov15:24 For
the discerning, the path of life leads upward, so that he may avoid going down to Sheol. Rev20:7-8 And
when the thousand years have expired, Satan shall be loosed from his prison, and he will go out to de-
ceive Gog and Magog, the nations in the four quarters of the earth, and gather them for war. Rev11:7
When the two witnesses finish their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war on
them, conquer them, and kill them. Rev9:1-2 The fifth angel blew his trumpet; and I saw a star which
had fallen from heaven to the earth; and to him was given the key of the [depths] of the abyss, and he
opened the [depths] of the abyss. And smoke came up out of the [depths] resembling the smoke of a vast
furnace, so that the sun was darkened, and the air also, by reason of the smoke of the [depths]. Rev6:8
And I saw a pale horse, and the name of him who sat upon it was Death, and [Sheol] joined him, and au-
thority was given to him over a fourth of the earth to kill with war, famine, death, and by the animals of

the earth. Isa27:1 On the day of the LORD, with His severe, great and mighty Sword, upon Leviathan
the serpent, fleeing above, that crooked dragon Leviathan will be slain. Rev19:20 And the beast was
seized, and with him the false prophet, who brought forth the distinguishing marks in the sight of him,
with which he led astray those who received the seal of the beast, and them that worshipped his image.
These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. Rev20:13-14 Then the sea yielded
up the dead who were in it, Death and [Sheol] yielded up the dead who were in them, and each man was
judged in accordance with what his conduct had been. Then Death and [Sheol] were thrown into the lake
of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. Rev1:18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now
look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and [Sheol]. Matt7:13 Enter through the
narrow gate for wide is the gate and broad the way leading to [Abaddon], and many are those entering
through it.
