American Seafoods today announced that after more than 25 years of service, Bernt Bodal is retiring from
the company and his role as Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors. Bernt led American Seafoods
through an era of incredible change including the formation of fishing cooperatives in both the U.S. Pacific
hake and Alaska pollock fisheries. These cooperatives enabled the company to dramatically increase
product recovery rates and allowed the cooperative members to work together to further reduce their
already small amount of bycatch of other species. “American Seafoods sincerely appreciates Bernt’s
contributions as both an officer and leader of the company,” said Mikel Durham, CEO of American
Seafoods. “Bernt is one of the true pioneers of what are among the most sustainable and well-managed
fisheries in the world.”

Today, American Seafoods is one of the largest fishing companies in the world and one of the largest
seafood companies in the United States. The company proudly owns and operates six of the most modern
and efficient catcher processors crewed by dedicated and talented teams who produce some of the
healthiest and most environmentally-friendly sources of protein available worldwide. Its high quality
Frozen-At-Sea products ultimately feed over a billion consumers a year.

Mr. Bodal will remain a member of American Seafoods’ Board of Directors in his capacity as an equity
holder in the company.
