AP 730 Main drive with overload
The chassis of this baler is specifically designed for high throughput at safety device
highest bale densities. It is fitted with all automatic operating safety devices Two friction clutches, one in front
provided by Welger. With the hydraulically operated drawbar the AP 730 and one in the back of the fly

In AP 530 and AP 630 a shear bolt
safeguards the drive if the provided
maintenance works have not been
carried out.
In AP 730 and AP 830 the need
for a shear bolt is eliminated
due to an automatically
re-setting safety
clutch.
AP 830
A pick-up of over 2,0 m wide, working in conjunction with the triple cross
feed system enables this machine to give a performance that is unrivalled
by other balers of this type. This model is particularly suited for large farmers
and contractors using big combines, as well as hay producers who require
high output, very high bale densities as well as precisely formed bale shapes.
Highly efficient Cross Feed
The cross feed is fitted with 2 selfde-
flecting packers (3 on the AP 830),
which ensure the feed area is not da-
maged. The deflecting packers are
not fitted with the usual shear bolts.
In the case of an overload the pac-
kers can deflect and return into the
working position automatically. After
several ram strokes the obstruction
will usually have
cleared itself.
An even bigger
feature to the Wel-
ger system becomes
evident when the hydro
packer is fitted.
It is a further development
of the proven and tested
deflecting packer.
Synchronised all shaft drive
To ensure a long trouble free working life the whole
drive system of the baler is synchronised, the packers
and knotters are driven by non-torsion shafts and too-
thed gears. From the central hypoid gear box the drive
is transmitted by a universal joint, the main drive shaft
transmits to a secondary shaft via and an angle joint to
the packer, knotters and needle drive.
No chains and v-belts are used – even the pick-up is
driven by shafts – this increases considerably the relia-
bility, as well as reducing maintenance. Time spent ten-
sioning and greasing chains is eliminated.
Automatic needle drive
A double clutch safeguards the knotter, with synchronised
timing of the needles to the ram in both the normal, and
should it be needed, the reverse direction of rotation.
This works fully automatically and makes complicated
ram stop devices unnecessary.
Automatic safety devices
Easy, uninterrupted work is essential for a high throughput
performance. Balers of other makes are protected with shear
bolts. In a case of an overload not only does the shear bolt
have to be changed, but additionally the intake area has
to be cleared.
All WELGER Balers are fitted with automatic safety devices.
When an overload does occur the driver only has to stop,
while the machine clears itself automatically.
The advantage:
the driver can resume work quickly
and the performance of the machine
is increased.
Compact knotter
Gained from the manufacture of more than 100.000 balers
the well proven Welger knotter has evolved.
Just to name one of many remarkable benefits, the bearings
of the knotter are completely maintenance free. Sealed for life
bearings make the normal time consuming work of lubrication
unnecessary.
The WELGER knotter makes knots about 30% stronger than other
manufacturers. Furthermore there are no pieces of twine left on the
bale that can produce problems when feeding the bales to stock.
