Course IMO 1.27

A.) TRAINING PRESENTATION

1. Aims
The purpose of this training is acquiring skills for the use and understanding of ECDIS
and knowledge of electronic cards in the context of navigation and in accordance with
SOLAS Convention regulations V/19 and the ISM Code 6.3 and 6.5. Familiarization and
general training must be consistent with the 2010 STCW Convention, Regulation I/14
and the IMO Model Course 1.27.

2. Objective

functions of ECDIS, select and assess all relevant information and take proper action.
Level of education ensures acquisition of competencies given in IMO Model Course 1.27.

3. Entry standards
Those wishing to enter this course should have experience in performing chart work and
should be able to practise all usual tasks concerning standard navigational procedures
and equipment. They should know about the functions and limitations of other
navigational equipment, especially ARPA radar.

4. Course certification, diploma or document

On successful completion of the course a trainee receive certificate: “The Operational
Use Of Electronic Chart Display And Information Systems (ECDIS)”. Records of issued
certificates are kept in accordance with the "Regulation on the implementation of courses
at UL FPP."

5. Limitations
Training is carried out two times yearly or when 5 or more candidates apply for the
course. Maximum number of candidates is 12.
