PILOT PEN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2018

It is with pleasure that World-Champ Marketing invites players to participate in the Pilot Pen
Championships 2018 from 4 June (Monday) to 10 June 2018 (Sunday). This tournament is sanctioned
by the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) as part of the Age Group Series.

Entities:
1. All players taking part in the competition will be deemed to have read and accepted the
conditions under which the competitions events are to be conducted.
2. For your own safety, participants are advised to seek medical health and fitness clearance from
medical professionals before competing in the games. The organizers shall not be responsible
for any personal health and medical related incidents.
3. Late entries will not be accepted.

Note: Schedule is subjected to change at the discretion of the referee (based on the number of entries
received).
Start of play will be based on the number of entries and will be published on the tournament website.

Tournament schedules will not be mailed to participants; participants will have to check the tournament
website for updates of schedules.

1. ELIGIBILITY OF PARTICIPANTS
1.1. This tournament is opened to all Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents, and individuals residing
and/or studying in Singapore with valid passes, for Age Categories between under 9 to 13.
1.2. Overseas participation is NOT allowed for Age Group Categories between Under 9 to 13.
1.3. Overseas participation is ONLY limited to the Under 15, 17 and Open categories.
1.4. Players must submit a photocopy of their ID/Student Pass/Passport with their cheque payment
for verification.
1.5. Age qualification shall be based on the following: (CALENDAR YEAR)

1.6. A player can participate in his/her age group category or a higher age group category but NOT in a
lower age group category. (E.g. A player 14 years of age in 2018 is eligible to participate in the U-
15 / U-17 Singles and Doubles events)
1.7. Organizers may request evidence of eligibility during the tournament. Any player found ineligible will
NOT be allowed to play and the player will have to concede walkover for that match. There will be
NO refund of entry fee.
2. ENTRY & REGISTRATION
2.1. Each player is ONLY allowed to enter a maximum of 4 events. More specifically, each player can
enter up to TWO Singles AND TWO Doubles events (2 doubles; or 2 mixed doubles; or 1 doubles
& 1 mixed doubles), either within their age group or higher.
2.2. The registration fees for each event are as follows (inclusive of GST):
2.2.1. Singles – S$50.00 per entry
2.2.2. Doubles – S$100.00 per pair
2.2.3. Mixed Doubles – S$50.00 per pair (Discounted rate*)
2.3. Closing date for registration is on Wednesday, 16 May 2018. Registration without payment is
deemed as incomplete. Late and incomplete entries will NOT be entertained. Bounced cheques will
result in entries being voided.
2.4. Payment for the registration fee is accepted in cash, cheque, online and is non-refundable.
2.5. All cheques to be made payable to “World-Champ Marketing” and crossed “A/C Payee only”.
All cheques and cash payments must also be accompanied by a hard copy of the duly completed
registration form and submitted by 16 May 2018 to:

2.6. A minimum of 16 entries per event will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. The
Organizing Committee reserves the right to conduct qualifying round if it decides to accept more
than 64 entries.
2.7. List of participants will be released on 22 May 2018. Draw will be conducted on 28 May 2018.
2.8. The above information stated in 2.8 will be released on the tournament website and announced on
our official Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/victorsport.sg.
2.9. Seeding will be based on Global EduHub Championships 2018, Temasek Club Championships
2017 and Pilot Pen Championships 2017.
2.10.Points earned from participation in this tournament will be used for player rankings in 2019.
2.11.In the event of insufficient entries for any event (i.e. less than 16 entries), the event/s may be
merged with the same event of another age category or be cancelled.
2.12.If there are less than 16 entries in any event, the prize money/ prizes for that event may be reduced.
2.13.The prize money will be determined by World-Champ Marketing., the organizer for this tournament.
3. TOURNAMENT FORMAT
3.1. The tournament will be a single knockout format for all events.

4. TOURNAMENT RULES
4.1. The tournament will be conducted in accordance with the current Badminton World Federation
(BWF) rules.
4.2. All matches will be played in accordance with the schedule of play. Postponement of any matches
will be at the Organizing Committee’s discretion.
4.3. All players are required to bring along their photo identification documents for verification on days
of their matches.
4.4. Once entries have been accepted, no replacement/substitution of players will be entertained.
However, the Organizing Committee, at its discretion, reserves the right to accept such changes if
necessary and with valid reasons, so long as no match has been played by the player/s.
4.5. All players must report to the Official Registration Table at least 30 minutes before the scheduled
time of their matches.
4.6. Players will be given a grace period of a maximum 5 minutes for all matches, failing which the
player will concede a walkover for that particular match.
4.7. In the event that both players fail to turn up, the match will be scratched.
4.8. Players who concede a walkover in one event, will still be allowed participation in other events,
unless otherwise decided by the tournament referee.
4.9. Players shall wear non-marking shoes during the competition.
4.10.The competition format will be based on the best of 3 games of 21 points (new point system) for
all categories.
4.11.Players are given a minimum of 30 minutes rest period before commencement of the next match
at any round (including semis & finals).
4.12.The decision of the umpires and officials shall be deemed as final.
4.13.Players are required to stay on the court AFTER their match had ended, to act as line judges for
the following match. Players who fail to do so will lead to a disqualification and/or ban from future
tournaments. Players may also be called randomly to act as line judges for the 1st round of matches
for the session.
4.14.There will be line judges provided on the final day.
4.15.From quarter-finals onwards, all doubles pairs are required to wear attire of at least the same
color, if not exactly the same design and color.
4.16.The Organizing Committee has the right to amend the rules & regulations prior to the
commencement of the event.
5. PRIZE & INCENTIVES
5.1. Total incentives in the form of cash/vouchers/rackets worth $24,000 to be awarded to prize winners.

5.2. The results of this tournament will be used by SBA to invite players for selection trials into the
National Intermediate Squad (NIS) and/or to participate in international age group tournaments.
Selection criteria are at the sole discretion of SBA.
5.3. Prizes winners are required to attend the prize presentation ceremony in proper sporting attire. NO
singlet or slippers are allowed.
5.4. Prizes winners are to proceed to the tournament table after the prize presentation ceremony to
collect their cash prize money.
5.5. Prize money will be reduced accordingly depending on the number of entries.
6. REFUND POLICY
6.1. Unless the Organizing Committee cancels the event, there will be no refund of the entry fees.
7. INDEMNITY

7.1. While reasonable precautions will be taken, the organizer will not be responsible or in any way liable
for any death, disability, personal injury, loss of property or any other loss howsoever arising from
any cause whatsoever at any time during the course of this tournament.
7.2. The Organizer reserves the right to amend the Terms & Conditions set out in this prospectus at its
sole discretion without prior notice. For key updates to the tournament, reasonable notice will be
