Professional Learning
Learning Objectives:
o Participants will become familiar with Google Drive Suite and be able to locate the basic
features of the applications.
o Participants will be able to use Google Docs and generate a document to integrate in
their classroom.
o Participants will be able to navigate Google Slides and produce a document to integrate
in their classroom.
o Participants will discover how to use Google Drive to increase student production,
student collaboration, student achievement, and differentiation.
Workshop Procedure:
Welcome
1. Introduce the purpose of the training for the teachers
2. The teacher will log into their laptops and access Launchpoint.
3. The teacher will locate the icon for Google Drive and will gain access.
4. The teachers will access my published One Hour Workshop: Creating through Google
Drive.
5. We will begin with reviewing “What is Google Drive?” due to some misconceptions of
Google Drive vs. Google Classroom.
a. Google Drive is a cloud service created by Google enabling users to store, create,
and synchronize files.
b. Using the Google Drive Handout we will review the tools/features.
6. We will review the features of Google Drive and teachers can use within their
classroom.
a. Google Docs - stories, letters, reports, notes
b. Google Slides - presentations, posters
c. Google Sheets – spreadsheets
d. Google Forms - surveys, ticket out the door
e. Google Drawings - shapes, charts, and diagrams
f. Google Sites - websites
g. Google Classroom - simplified platform for teachers
7. Teachers will access their Google Drives and there will be a review of the basic
tools/functions of the Google Docs.
a. The teachers will review the functions of the Google Doc as we review the
presentation and handout.
b. The teachers will participate in hands-on practice becoming familiar with the
functions. The assignments are differentiated to address the beginners and
intermediate learners based on the survey.
c. Facilitator will rotate and address individual learners needs.
d. Discussion of how the teachers can use Google Docs within their classroom.
8. Teachers will access their Google Slides and there will be a review of the basic
tools/functions of the Google Slides.
a. The teachers will review the functions of Google Slides as we review the
presentation and handout.
b. The teachers will participate in hands-on practice becoming familiar with the
functions. The assignments are differentiated to address the beginners and
intermediate learners based on the survey.
c. Facilitator will rotate and address individual learners needs.
d. Discussion of how the teachers can use Google Slides within their classroom.
9. The instructor will briefly review the following Google Drive applications so teachers
can see additional options for their classrooms as well as learn about applications for
further professional learning.
a. Google Sheets
b. Google Site
c. Google Forms – Ticket out the door
d. Google Classroom
10. Wrap Up
a. Instructor will answer any additional questions teachers may have about the
workshop.
b. The teachers will participate in the Post-Survey.
Evaluation/Assessment:
Informal Assessment
The instructor will assess the participants understanding of the features of Google Drive
through observations during the work time of the participants. The instructor will extend
further explanation individually if participants struggle with the different features.
Formal Assessment
Participants completed the pre-survey prior coming to the workshop. Participants will
complete the post-workshop survey at the conclusion of the workshop. The instructor will
review, evaluate, and analyze the results.
Follow-Up
Instructor will visit teachers who attended the workshop to answer any specific questions they
may have after using it with their students. It will also give the instructor the opportunity to
unofficially assess who implemented the tools taught during the workshop.
