In status quo (present condition), in many countries where abortion is not legal, the rate of mortality due to abortion practice is extremely high. Two out of 8
women in Indonesia who conducted abortion died, and more are permanently suffered serious health problems such as continous bleeding, infections, womb
obstruction, etc.
Motion: THW require police officers to always wear surveillance cameras while on duty
In the current status quo is happening big distrust coming from society towards police officers accountability, society started to question officers’ accuracy and
accountability. We take the example of Michael Brown’s shooting that happened in Ferguson, USA on the 9th of August by officer Darren Wilson. Society
believes that what the officer has done is backlashing with the code of conduct of taking the life of individual by shooting, because Brown already gave up. While
in the side of officer it is believed that Brown has done massive counter-attack to the police.
Motion: THW require police officers to always wear surveillance cameras while on duty
The problem is that there’s no proof which side is correct, and why what the officer has done is a justified action in this matter.
Motion: THW require police officers to always wear surveillance cameras while on duty
Today’s debate would happen in general countries, for example but not limited to United States of America,
and this debate would be about whether police officers should utilize surveillance cameras on duty in order to provide maximum accuracy to provide the best
security system for society, as a helping tool to proof that officers is following the working ethic code and code of conduct.
We propose that there would be socialization for society and officers that all police officers would wear surveillance cameras while on duty. Second, we only
allow the access to this camera only for professional significance.
Motion: THW require police officers to always wear surveillance cameras while on duty
Standing as team proposition what we’re going to prove is that status quo mechanism isn’t adequate enough to ensure that officers has done the right working ethic
code and code of conduct, therefore we need to implement this policy.
Motion: THBT western liberal democratic states should only send female ambassadors to nations with poor record of women's rights
Upholding women’s right has always been one of the biggest interests of liberal democratic country, because upholding women’s right also means upholding
human right. We’re seeing massive progress in some countries, women’s rights are already being protected by the law. But, sadly, in some other countries, million
women are still suffering from being assaulted, undermined, and underappreciated in their life.
Motion: THBT western liberal democratic states should only send female ambassadors to nations with poor record of women's rights
And most of western liberal democratic countries just sit back and let it happen, but letting it happens is just an ignorant stance. Therefore, today, team proposition
stands for women’s right.
Motion: THBT western liberal democratic states should only send female ambassadors to nations with poor record of women's rights
Today’s debate would be about whether as western liberal democratic countries, for example but not limited to United States and United Kingdom should only
send female ambassadors to nations which have poor record of women’s right, for example but not limited to the Holy See, Iran, Somalia and Sudan. We’re talking
about sending female nation’s representatives to countries which still not concerning upon women’s education, we’re talking about sending UK’s representatives
to democratic Republic of Congo which 3 millions of women have to live in fear of being brutally raped. So we define poor record of women’s right as lacking of
supporting system to uphold women’s right.
Motion: THBT western liberal democratic states should only send female ambassadors to nations with poor record of women's rights
We propose that we would only send female ambassadors to these countries with poor record of women’s right. It is important to be noted down, that this is a
value judgment debate, we’re going to talk about why these countries who have succeeded in ensuring women’s right have moral obligation upon this, and why it
would bring a lot of benefits.
A.1.3. The government (authority) effort to solve the problem, its purpose and why it is still
failed
It’s not like the government in the status quo didn’t do something about it, the government
has already done several preventive and limitation efforts like; giving warning and education to
inform the society about the dangerousness of smoking, increasing the tax of cigarette and giving
regulation of smoking room or smoking in certain public places like in mall, hospital, but all of
government efforts in the status quo to reduce the number of casualty because of smoking activity
have been proven failed and ineffective to decrease the number of casualty that happen because
of smoking activity.
Motion: THW ban smoking
All of those casualties still happen because the
government in the status quo still makes regulation to
allow the society to choose personal choice of smoking
that makes the society still being exposed with cigarette
and all of its dangerous substance.
So there is no consistency with all of government’s
efforts to reduce the casualties because of smoking activity
with government’s regulation to still allow people to still
choose doing smoking activity freely.
Human life is very precious and valuable that’s why we
should do something immediately to solve this. That’s why
we should ban smoking as a faster and immediate solution.
Motion: THW ban smoking
What we mean by banning smoking in here is we are
going to illegalize smoking, it means every
perpetrator of smoking will get punishment by the
government in the form of 3 months jail punishment if
they do smoking activity.
Motion: THW ban smoking
The objective of this motion is to
provide the basic right of health and life
for the society
Motion: THBT beauty peagant
should be banned
It puts a woman in a position as an
object and to be valued based on their
appearance. Furthermore, the contest is
aimed to be a commercial business, thus
the contestants are positioned to be a
commodity.
Motion: THBT beauty peagant
should be banned
Since it becomes an arena of women
objectification as well as a business
commodity, thus the contest degrades
women.
Motion: THBT beauty peagant
should be banned
Miss Universe contest degrades women.
Motion: THBT beauty peagant should be banned
The adjudication process are 80% based on “beauty
skill” while the “brain” session is only additional and
the questions can be answered by elementary school
students, like “what will you do if you are a
president?”
While during the contest season, the event
organizer open up many gamble sites to bet on who is
going to win and gain more than 2 billions US$ dollar
in 2006 only.
Motion: THW say no for women quota in the
parliament
Nowadays there is still a strong stigma in society
believing that women are inferior to men and has less
capability than men.
Reserved seats in the parliament will only
strengthen the paradigm that women can only sit in
the parliament if they are facilitated but not because
they can equally compete with men.
Thus justifying the wrong perception that women
could not reach the same level as men unless given
privilege.
Motion: THW say no for women
quota in the parliament
Quota will only strengthen the stigma in
society that undermines women.
Motion: THW say no for women
quota in the parliament
Thus, quota for women in parliament
will only strengthen the negative
perception that undermines women,
hindering the promotion of women
being equal to men.
Motion: THW say no for women
quota in the parliament
In Uganda, public opinion that does not
go in favor of women increased rapidly
after the implementation of this kind of
quota (this was also supported by some
polling).
Motion: THW Implement Free Trade in Indonesia
that the Room of Debate here is to prove whether or not applying free trade/removing tariff and non-tariff barriers will optimize the economic productivity of Indonesia”.
the “Proposed Solution” would be “to introduce free trade, which is an abolishment of the protectionist economic policies”.
How the mechanism of free trade will work? The Tariff and Non-Tariff barriers for imported products will be removed, and the subsidies for local producers will be alleviated
and/or equally accessible for foreign producers.
