Narrative Report

SDRRMT stands for School Disaster Risk Reduction Management Training, in which this
organization handles all about survival before, during, and after a catastrophe. Thanks to the
school-based echo SDRRMT, this training provides tips, tricks, and advice on how to survive on
a certain catastrophe.
The training started with an opening remark, prayer first then an opening message.
Unfortunately, the School Principal Ma’am Estrellita Morano is busy, so on behalf of her Sir Bob
Seno took over the opening message, and welcomes every participant in this training.
The next part the trainer introduce himself to us, he is Sir Bob, not Sir Bob Seno just another
Sir Bob. Sir Bob’s assistant also introduce himself to us his name is Filbert, and we call him “Kuya
Filbert.” There were30 participants in this training, composing Class Presidents from Grade 9 to
Grade 11 and were gathered in the Palo NHS Gymnasium. Mostly, it is expected that a symposium
or a training is just all about lesson but this one is different, where we expect only just sitting down
and listen. But after they introduce themselves, they requested the participants to go out to start
the training. Sir Bob wants to emphasize team building which is a big question to the participants,
we think that this training talks about the survival of the individual. The participants were divided
into 2 groups, and the first team building training started. The first one was letting each participant
to fall in line and crouch, and hold the feet those in front of you and walk forward while crouching.
This sure is a team building training because if your movement is not synchronized with your
groupmates, well the whole group will sure to trip over. And after the first team building training
here comes the second challenge. Sir Bob gave us a situation, wherein we have to imagine that
were in a dark place. Since it’s daytime, Sir Bob gave out triangular bondage to use to cover our
eyes. With our eyes covered, the Sir Bob and his other companion separated the participants from
each other. If they think they succeeded in separating people from another people. Our team
already had a tactic, where each one of us has a specific code in line with the arrangement and
group number. We succeeded in this challenge. After that we got back to the school gymnasium
and discussed all about disaster, then lunch break. After the break, Sir Bob teach each one us
different kind and ways to cover up different kind of injuries. It was fun, because we learned a
more easier way to tie and untie the bondage but unfortunately, we have to end early because Sir
Bob has to train the boy scouts of Palo NHS.
And here comes the second day, in morning Sir Bob we had a quiz about the discussion
last day then continued to teach the different kinds of covering an injury then proceeded in different
kind of carry. The one man carry sure is hard because you have to carry the whole victim on your
own, in two, three, and four men carry, weight of the victim is not a problem, but synchronization
and extra care should be observed so there will be no other injury inflicted to the victim. Sir Bob
told us how to use the spine board and other equipment involve in rescuing. And in this also our
first rescue simulation started. Some participants became a victim and the rest must rescue. It’s
easy to identify who prioritize because there is indicator the victim has a colored electrical tape,
the red stands for 1st priority, yellow, green, and black is the 2nd, 3rd and last priority respectively.
On some part we failed because we rescued some green indicated victim for they are conscious
also. We did it twice first the vehicular accident rescue and the second is the collapse structure
rescue. It did go well, but Sir Bob announce that the real challenge will be tomorrow, we were
asked to prepare light cloths so there will be no restriction in our movement. I don’t if we have to
be excited or scared but each one has to try the descending rappel.
The last day started, we were gathered in front of the 3-story building in Palo NHS where
most students address it as “Marawi.” Each one had to rappel, a first everyone is scared but as it
was past from participants to participants it became exciting. And the real challenge started, it is a
rescue mission in a 3-story building, wherein we have to rescue 10 victims in 10 minutes or less.
We assigned different committee to our co-participants, those handle recording of victims, those
who rescue, who do first aid, those who find a safe place for the victim, and other more committees.
But look, what’s more we didn’t expect that we have to save a bloody victim, wherein we didn’t
expect that they will spit out lots of blood. And also, a certain victim who will be tied in a spine
board and has to be brought from the 3-story build through rappelling. The rescue mission ended
well. Before the graduation or giving of certificates. Some of us were given a chance to share the
drama, the learning, the time passed, or in word “experience” during the training. Some says
they’re childhood dreams were realized in this training, some treasures the moment they had with
the co-participants. And after that we graduated! And we were given certificates.
