Student Learning Outcome (SLO) Template

Assistant Principal Name: Perry Warren School: Arbutus Middle School 2017-2018
Statement of Outcome: (Identify critical skill(s). Please specify whether this is a mastery or progress outcome.)

The percentage of students meeting or exceeding their mid-year MAP growth targets in reading will increase from 66.3% to 70% in the 2017-2018
academic year. This is a progress outcome.

Rationale: (Why did you choose this outcome? Why is this an appropriate area of focus?)

66.3% of students met their MAP growth goal for the 2016-2017 academic year. The outcome of 70% of students making their MAP growth goal for
the 2017-2018 academic year directly aligns and supports the Arbutus School Progress Plan reading goal.

Students: (Which students will this outcome address? How many? From which class(es)?)

All students in grades 6-8 at Arbutus Middle School.

Interval:

September 2015 – February 2017

Target(s) & Evidence: (Where do you expect this population of students to be at the end of the interval of instruction? Targets may be tiered to
reflect differentiation among students. What evidence are you going to use to measure student learning? At least one source of evidence is required,
but multiple sources may be used. If a common assessment exists, it must be used as the primary source of evidence.)

Following the interval of instruction is it expected that 70% of students will have met their reading MAP growth target on from the 2017 fall MAP
assessment to the 2018 winter MAP assessment.

Rationale for Target: (How was this target chosen? How did you determine that it is a rigorous target? What pre-test or base-line information, if
any, informed your decision?)

The 70% of students meeting MAP growth target aligns to the schoolwide reading goal set in the School Progress Plan.

Assessment Administration & Scoring: (How will assessments be administered? How will assessments be scored?)

The fall and winter MAP assessments will be administered during the testing window (Fall: September-October; Winter: January-February).

Approval of Outcome: (Evaluator should rate the Student Learning Outcome in the following categories. Outcomes rated as needing revision in a
category should be revised and resubmitted. *Use SLO approval rubric for guidance.)

Results: (Administrator should explain evidence of student learning. How many targets were met? To what degree were targets met? Additional
score reports may be attached to reflect results.)

549 of 880 students (Grades 6-8) met their growth projects from Fall to Winter on Winter
MAP. The SLO goal was for 70% of students to meet their growth score, however, only
62.4% of students were able to attain this goal. Listed to the left is a table displaying the
raw data by grade-level and sub-group.
