DRESSAGE
All Dressage events are held at Crumleigh Heath Farm, throughout the year, excluding January. Please
see our website for confirmation of dates. Classes cater for Juniors and Seniors at intro, prelim, nov-
ice and elementary standard. All dressage events are open to members and non-members. Summer clas-
ses are held outdoors on grass , whilst winter classes are held indoors. Entries are taken for one month at
the preceding month’s dressage event. It may be possible to enter between the events if there are
spaces remaining. Where there is excess demand a waiting list is maintained but priority is given to club
members.
Further information can be obtained from our website, where final times for competitors will
also be published on the Wednesday prior to the event. Confirmation of the Dressage Tests can
also be found here.
Entries can now be paid for via HORSE MONKEY. Please see our web site for information
as to how to do this.

Please Note:
All dressage events are run on accordance with BD rules
Prelim and Novice classes to be ridden in a snaffle (no wilkie bits)
Horses/ponies must only be worked in by the competitor themselves
A horse/pony may not compete at the same level of class with different riders
Walk trot tests can be done on lead rein.

Beginners/Novice Classes—Horse/Pony and rider combination NOT to have won an Open Show Jumping class
or the overall points trophy for that class in any previous year.
All classes, apart from Lead Rein, will be run over one round which is not against the clock with the clear rounds
jumping off against the clock over a shortened and raised course. Lead Rein will be one untimed round.
All Show Jumping Classes, except Lead Rein, are open to any age rider or size of horse/pony. There will be
2 doubles, one pony (red) and one horse (blue). You must ensure that you jump the correct double for your
horse/ pony. Horses and ponies will be placed separately.
• Ground conditions may govern the height of fences
• No competitor will be allowed in the ring without the correct attire, and hair tied back
• Whips must not exceed 30”
• Spurs may only be worn by senior competitors and must be blunt with tips downwards
• After a fall, a competitor MUST leave the ring on foot
• Any outside assistance (whether solicited or unsolicited) to a competitor in the ring, may result in
disqualification
• Faults for this ring are as follows: knock down, 4 faults,; 1st disobedience, 4 faults; 2nd disobedience, 8
faults; 3rd disobedience, elimination. Fall of horse/pony or rider will result in elimination.
• Rider is not allowed to remount after a fall
NB Circles incur faults as a disobedience with the exclusion of beginners classes
CALLISTO WORKING HUNTER RING
CLASSES START AT 09.45
Working Hunter is one round of rustic fences, marked out of 50 points. Marks out of 10 are
given for style and manners whilst jumping.
Once everyone has jumped, those who jumped clear will be asked to re-enter the ring for a conformation
round, rather like a showing class. Should there not be enough clears to fill all places, those that complet-
ed the course may be invited in as well.
Marks are then given according to your individual show, horse/pony type and conformation and also on
manners.
Scores from both rounds are added together to determine placings. Highest score
wins.
• Horse/pony and rider combination NOT to have won an Open Working Hunter class or overall points
• All junior members, when showing in hand, must wear correct dress and
regulation riding hat, properly fastened
• Class 17—Shown in natural state
AHP HEATING AND PLUMBING RIDDEN RING
• All competitors must be smartly turned out, navy, black or tweed jackets,
with either shirt and tie, or stock.
• Long hair must be tied back or in a hairnet
• No jewellery under any circumstances
• Jodhpurs must be beige, canary or white
• In the event of a fall, the rider MUST leave the arena on foot

There is not a Perpetual Trophy awarded for the Family Class winner.
It is compulsory to wear a riding hat to PAS015 standard
at all times when mounted
No jewellery to be worn in any ridden classes, including facial studs
Hats: It is compulsory to wear a riding hat and chin straps to at least the specification detailed when
mounted on the show ground, or if a junior showing in hand. Hats should conform to PAS015

standards. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN VOID INSURANCE IN CASE OF ACCIDENT.
Suitable attire is to be worn in all rings.
Stallions must be pre-declared & shown bitted by ADULTS only, there will be no exception to this

rule.
First class in each ring will not start before the shown time. Classes after the break will not start
before 1.00pm. Should there be insufficient entries, classes may be amalgamated, altered or
cancelled at the discretion of the Committee. It is the competitor’s responsibility to enter the ring

when asked. Failure to do so may lead to elimination from the class unless the Ring Steward has
been informed of the circumstances. It is then up to the judge’s discretion as to whether the
competitor may compete. Competitors should note that classes may overlap.
Riders must not gallop or canter anywhere on the show ground except in the warming up area or in
5 the rings. Offenders will be asked to leave the show ground without the refund of any entry money.
The Committee and organisers do not hold themselves responsible for any accident, loss or dam-

age to competitors, spectators, animals, vehicles or property for any reason whatsoever.
The Committee reserves the right to measure the height of any animal that is suspected of being
the incorrect height for the class in which it is to be entered. In the event of such action being taken
7 and the animal being found to be of incorrect height, the Committee will have the authority to
disqualify the said animal from the class in question until a height certificate to the contrary has been
produced.
8 Any objection to be put into writing and handed in to the Show Secretary not more than one hour after
the class has ended and must be accompanied by £20 (refunded if the objection is upheld).
No whips or spurs allowed in Handy Pony Ring. No spurs in Equitation Ring. No spurs in Working Po-
9 ny classes. The excessive use of whips and/or spurs is forbidden. Whips must not exceed
30" (75cm). Spurs must be blunt, turned downwards and not inwards.
GENERAL RULES—CONTINUED
10 Riders/horses age as at the 1st January 2017 in the current year. Members
cannot change sections during the season, i.e. Lead Rein competitors remain in Lead
Rein classes for the entire season, and on the lead rein around the show ground.
14 Litter MUST be placed in the bins provided or taken home and no mucking out is permitted
anywhere on the show ground or car parks. Hay nets tied outside horse boxes/wagons are not
permitted on any surfaced car parks.
15 The Committee has the right to refuse admission to the show ground any horse or person for
any reason
16 The Committee has the right to alter, amend or add to these rules as they feel necessary.
17 All members and competitors at any British Riding clubs event must adhere to the
strict guidelines on conduct and discipline.
18 All members and competitors are bound by the clubs Social Media Policy without exception

SHOWGROUND AND MEMBERSHIP WITHDRAWN

WELFARE OF THE HORSES
Shows and Dressage (Separate points for Winter And Summer)
Points will be awarded at all shows and dressage competitions and will
be accumulated for each combination of horse and rider on the following basis:
• Members tying for a place will each be awarded the appropriate number of
points.
• Members must compete in the same class, at a minimum of four shows to
qualify for the points to be awarded in that class.
• The combination of horse/pony and rider/handler must stay the same for all
classes for points to be awarded.
• Points will only be applied from the date the competitor becomes a member.
Points cannot be back dated.
• Trophies will only be awarded to the first four competitors in each class in
they have competed in the minimum number of shows. These will be
presented at the end-of-year Presentation Evening.
• Overall junior and senior points winners will receive a trophy.
• Members who participate, but are not placed in a class, will receive 1 point.
