Abstract  Limit the abstract to 300 words or less


 Summarize the basic content of the paper without presenting extensive
details.
 Avoid abbreviations; Spell-out acronym at first occurrence.
 Do not cite references in the abstract
 Do not include diagram or figure
 The abstract must be complete and understandable without reference to the
text.
 General format
o Problem/Background
o Objectives of the study
o Procedures –major procedures used
o Results - highlights of major results
- include quantitative data
o Conclusion - should be based on obtained data only
- do not generalize
Key Words Include 4 to 6 key words that describe the manuscript content

Introduction  Give background info about the topic


 Highlights of results of existing related studies
 Mention the importance of the current study
 State the objective(s) of the current study

 Cite references for facts obtained from literature.


 References should be numbered consecutively as cited in text
 Indicate the source or website link where photographs were taken
 DON’T CUT & PASTE facts/info. Re-phrase (in your own words)
whatever info you read from literature.

Methods  Give detailed procedure


 Cite references for procedures obtained from literature.
 References should be numbered consecutively as cited in text
 Units of measure should conform to the International Standard of Units (SI)
 Description of procedures done should be in past tense
 Mention disposal procedure of waste materials used
 Include statistical analysis of data

Results and  Describe the results of the current study


Discussion  Present data using tables or figures (graphs or photos).
 Figures and Tables should be numbered sequentially with caption
 Figures and Tables should be cited in the text
 Discuss the results of your study; Explain the mechanism(s) involved;
Compare & contrast your results with those from related studies
 Cite references for facts/info obtained from literature.
 References should be numbered consecutively as cited in text
 Make sure that all specific objectives have corresponding results &

Conclusion &  Should briefly answer the objectives of the study


 Are NOT repetitions of the discussions BUT are highlights of the results
obtained

Recommenda  Give recommendations for further research; how the results could be

-Profile of participants, reviewers, or evaluators (if applicable)

Materials are designated as Appendix 1, Appendix 2, and so on.


Figures/photos/tables must have caption.

NOTES:
 Microorganisms should be obtained from culture collections
(see PNMCC List)
 Get official certification for identity of samples used
(plant, animal, or microorganism)
 Scientific name: in italics; Capitalize the 1st letter of Genus name
 References should be numbered consecutively as cited in text

Requirements to submit:
1. Hardcopy
Compile in clear file folder or clear folder with slide
1.1. Final manuscript; journal-type format (MS Word file)
1.2. Major reference materials (at least 2 cited journal articles, PDF)
1.3. Powerpoint presentation and other presented files
1.4. Final copy of proposal (follow prescribed proposal format)

2. Soft copy
In USB or CD (VIRUS-FREE FILES)
2.1. Journal-type manuscript (doc & PDF)
2.2. Major reference materials (PDF, at least 2 articles)
2.3. Powerpoint presentation (PPT) and other presented files
2.4. Final copy of proposal (doc & PDF)
