GROUP MEMBERS: Acebes, Gojar, Lucenario, Marfiga, Ubaldo

IDEERS- Introducing and Demonstrating Earthquake Engineering Research in Schools

• Originally founded in the Bristol University UK, the IDEERS is held yearly in Taipei by the
British Council, the Taiwan National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering
(NCREE) and the Taiwan National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLABS).

• Participants are undergraduate students majoring in Civil Engineering and all programs
related to it.

Earthquake Engineering, Seismic Protection Education, Creative Scientific Competition

• Students entering the competition will make their models using cheap materials which
will then be put on the tri-axial seismic simulator (shake-table).

• Seismic Protection Education varies from different research activities such as

Earthquake Scenarios, Structural Control and System Identification, etc.

Competition Categories and Rules & Regulations

• The competition is divided into three types of competitor teams: high school,
undergraduate, and post-graduate.

• For the undergraduate category, there are numerous awards that can be won from
different aspects of their structural model. These are:
o Efficiency Ratio Award
o Efficiency Ratio Certificate of Excellence
o Quake-Resistant Certificate
o Best Structural (Engineering) Design
o Best Architectural (Artistic) Design
o Best Design Idea of Exhibits
o Most Preferable Award
o Correct Prediction Prize
o Creative Show Person Reward
