Syed et al., [1] presented an experimental and thermodynamic analysis of the energetic performance of
two HDH cycles. They found that, the theoretical model which used open-air open-water (OAOW) cycle
and the modified closed-water open-air (CWOA) cycle is found to be in a good agreement with the
experimental data with a maximum percentage deviation of 5% from the experimental data.

Dahiru et al., developed a Humidification dehumidification desalination system powered by a heat-pump.

They also proposed a Mathematical model based on mass and energy balance for combined system using
closed-air open-water water-heated, and modified air-heated cycles. They obtained a Maximum GOR of
8.88 at 80% effectiveness for air heated and water heated cycles.

Farsad and Behzadmeh has done a numerical investigation on humidification–dehumidification cycle by

solving Mass and energy balance equations for the cycle components. They concluded that the mass flow
rate and temperature of feed water, inlet air as well as the condenser characteristic parameter, and the
total heat flux have significant effect on the cycle performance.

Farsad and Behzadma conducted a numerical study of the humidification-drying cycle by solving the
equations of mass and energy balance for the components of the cycle. They came to the conclusion that
the mass flow and temperature of the feed water, the inlet air, as well as the characteristic parameter of
the condenser and the total heat flux, have a significant effect on the characteristics of the cycle.
