This is our orientation day, we discuss all about Max’s Restaurant

history, and the mission vision, the standards procedures of the restaurant. We are

introduced to all the staff and employees. The orientation started 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.

It was a very tiring day even if we are only sitting, but we learned a lot, because this is

the first step for our training.

Nov 30, 2009

This is the first day of my duty, I was very nervous because it’s my

first time being a waiter, but our dining supervisor appointed buddy waiters for the

ojt’s. They helped us and taught us all the dining standards and procedures. They

taught us the proper table settings. This is the first task for me, and I got it easily. I

also learned to handle guest, but first, I got very shy when the first customers ask me

about the menu, but later on, I got used to it.

My 2nd duty, it was rough, many customers arrived in the

establishment, and my task is to buss out the plates and glasses and reset the table

settings, but later, I learned to work under pressure. Working with precision and

accurate. This is the day that many customers are asking me for drinking water and

extra tissue, what a day, very tiring day.

Third day, my buddy waiter Norwen taught me how to set up the

dining 2 and the function rooms, very tiring, dining 2 all by myself, I spent the whole

day in the 2nd floor.

Dec 5, 2009

My fourth day on the establishment, opening shift, I got up very early

today, my buddy waiter taught me the opening procedures, we mopped and swept the

floor and set up the waiter stations for the dining operations. It was a fine day; many

regular customers arrived in the establishment.

Dec 6, 2009

5 days in the establishment, I learned how to handle complaints. I was

a beverage runner today. I’m very careful in serving the beverage and the dessert for

the customers. My supervisors liked my work in the restaurant.

Dec 7, 2009

This day is very dull, only a few customers arrived in the

establishment. The branch manager arrived today, she told us to clean the dining 2 at

the 2nd floor. She checked our uniform and checked if it is complete. She is very strict

regarding the Max’s waiters uniform. Our dining supervisor inspects our bottle

openers and our haircut.

Today, I’m on midshift, I woke up very late to restore my energy.

Today is my first function duty; I was assigned as the beverage runner in the function.

I have a hard time in the function, there are so many people, the function room is

crowded, but my buddy waiter helped me to got over the situation and I did the job

properly.

Dec 11, 2009

Today, my supervisor assigned me to clean the waiter station, both 1st

and 2nd floor. Many customers arrived; kare-kare was the common order this day. All

the ojt’s are called and have a meeting in the dining 2. The dining supervisor checked

if we are studying the menu or doing the menu familiarization. I got lucky; I answered

a very easy question.

I woke up late today, I’m 2 minutes late, my supervisor got angry with

me so I need to step up and do my job, duties and responsibilities as a waiter. I felt

weak today, so I bought extra joss to power me up, luckily, it is very effective and I

got more energetic for the job. All the waiters are very energetic today.

Today, I and my buddy are assigned to do the flyers. We went to

Leveriza Heights to distribute the flyers. We are so very excited because it is the first

time for me. We almost walk in about 2 hours, it was very tiring day, because we are

expected to give it all to the people in the subdivision.


Dec 15 – 17, 2009

This is the 3 day training at Scout Tuazon, this day is very tiring but

also enjoying, I met new friends from different Max’s branch. I’ve trained the

operation procedures, the dining standards and menu familiarization and I absorbed it.

We slept in E. Rodriguez Quezon City, at the staff house of Max’s property. This 3

day training gave me advantage from other employees in the Tayabas branch.

Dec 20, 2009

I’m late, probably tired from the training, I felt weak today, as usual, I

drunk extra joss, but for now, it’s not effective. I work with low energy but gained

when I ate lunch. Back to work and to the operation procedures.
