HEALTH, SAFETY &

ENVIRONMENT ANALYST
Term Position

Location: Calgary, Alberta – with required field work


Posted: July 2017
Work closely with the HSE Team and Field Operations staff helping to steward and implement the Health,
Safety and Environmental program for Birchcliff’s operating areas.

Key Responsibilities
 Incident Management;
o Tool management for Workplace Incident Tracking System.
o Incident reporting support.
o Investigation support; ensuring full circle documentation of incident including root
cause and effective corrective actions.
 Competency Management;
o Tool management for Training and Certification.
o Uploading and creation of new/revised standard operating procedures.
o Ongoing monitoring.
o Conduct Calgary orientations for Birchcliff staff. Work with Field HSE Advisors to support
in the orientations for Birchcliff field staff and Birchcliff Leaders.
 Performance Management;
o Conducting trend analysis on all incidents, near hits, hazard identifications and positive
observations
o Preparation and distribution of internal safety alerts, memos, correspondence, etc.
o Submit AER reports as directed by our facility license approvals, monthly and annual.
o Various regulatory annual reporting requirements.
o Prepare HSE Quarterly and Annual Summary Report.
o Man Hours; collect and record. On a quarterly basis as a CAPP initiative and for TRIF
(total recordable incident frequency) calculations.
o Keep AER Inspection and Investigation tracking spreadsheet current with new updates.
o Regulatory audit support as required.
o Distribution and submission of data to AER via DDS system: self-disclosures,
enforcement follow up, etc.
 Emergency Response Management;
o Assist with Emergency Response Plan updates; training exercises, managing binder
inventory and distribution lists, updating new assets, tracking updates, etc.
 Contractor management;
o Supporting our online system, ComplyWorks, and keeping in touch with our Contractors.
 Corporate HSE Responsibilities;
o Assist with HSE document updates including the Corporate Health and Safety Manual,
Corporate Environmental Program, TDG permits, etc.
o Assist with planning for Safety Stand Down and our annual Safety Seminars.
o SDS Management

Education, Skills and Abilities


 Must have a minimum 5 years of HSE experience in the oil and gas industry.
 Must have oil & gas experience in Drilling, Completions and/or Production Operations.
 OH&S or Business Analyst certificate at a minimum.
 The ability to work as a team member.
 Motivated to support all aspects of our Operations.
 Must be able to manage time and priorities.
 Must be able to take direction as well as add professional input into decisions and provide
direction.
 Excellent critical thinking skills.
 Strong organizational skills.
 Demonstrate a keen interest for accuracy and attention to detail.
 Strong computer software skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
 Strong TEAM player with effective and open communication skills. Birchcliff is a highly
interactive company and expects a high level of teamwork and communication across all
departments.
 Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.
 Available for some travel required to all of our operational areas.
