Hygiene of Codex Alimentarius , International
food trades, and foreign travel, are increasing,
bringing important social and economic
benefits But it also makes the spread of illness
around the world easier.

Current issues we normally face
• Increasing cost of production (COP) and reduction in
profitability ,low crop, low yield, increasing wages, increasing
input cost

• increasing demand for statutory, regulatory, social and

environmental responsibilities throughout the supply
chain starting from the plucking of green leaf to the
end user point both in domestic and international market

4
Current regulation on Food safety in India

• Requirement of schedule 4 FSSAI in India

• Plat Protection Code for tea Industries

5
Proper implementation of Food safety system
can reduce eliminates the chances of food risk

- It ensures Conformity of products and services to

International standards

- It provides assurance about:

-quality
-safety
-reliability and consistancy

food safety management system

Business, ISO is made up of standards
Government and institutes from 154 different
Society countries

Member countries work

together to develop and
approve standards
What is ISO 22000?

It is a Food Safety Management System (FSMS)

that uses a management systems approach as
well as a HACCP process.

The goal of ISO 22000 is to provide one

internationally recognized standard for a food
safety management system that can be
applied to any organization in the food chain.
• These standards provides guidelines for
organizations to establish their quality and
food safety systems by focusing on
procedures, control, and documentation ,
while conceptualizing that certain
minimum characteristics of a quality
management system could be usefully
standardized, giving mutual benefit to
suppliers and customers, and focusing on
process rather than product/service quality
.
11
• ISO 22000 is basically based on HACCP based
food safety management system which also
covers GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)

• GMP consists of fundamental principles,

procedures and means needed to design a
suitable environment for the production of
food of acceptable quality.
• It also includes Good agricultural practices
(GAP)
