1.0 PURPOSE

The purpose of this method statement is to define procedure to be followed during

installation of grills & diffuser for.

2.0 SCOPE

The scope of this method statement is to provide guidelines for installation of grills &
diffuser. All works shall be conducted in conformance with relevant project drawings
/specifications and good industry practices.

3.0 TOOLS & EQUIPMENTS

3.1 Measuring tape

3.2 Ladder/Mobile Scaffold/Jerry pickup/sky lifts
3.3 Drilling Machine
3.4 Wooden Mallet
3.5 Spirit Level / Level Threads
3.6 Portable Hand Tools

4.0 RESPONSIBILITY

4.1 PROJECT MANAGER:

4.1.1 To be the focal point for all over interfaces and other communications with the
company and contractor as required during project execution.
4.1.2 Ensure that adequate quality measures are being undertaken.
4.1.3 He shall identify and secure necessary resources, determining the task that must be
completed, assigning the tasks and delegating authority.

4.1.4 He is responsible for planning of site organization, resource mobilization,
subcontracting, site operation, construction methods and scheduling.
4.1.5 Ensure all the keys staffs are on site during execution.
4.1.6 He shall coordinate all site safety issues to HSE Personnel for corrective Action.
4.1.7 Main point of contact on site for safety issues.

4.2 SITE ENGINEERS/ SUPERVISOR

4.0.1 Responsible for the coordination of all electromechanical activities, coordination with
other discipline and between various subcontractors on sites
4.0.2 Ensure all permits are available for works on site and all safety precautions are taken.
4.0.3 Responsible to ensure sufficient and adequate resources are secured and provided to
MEP subcontractor.
4.0.4 To direct and coordinate with CIVIL contractors and other MEP Engineers for
effective execution on site.
4.0.5 Reviewing MEP Daily, Weekly & Monthly Progress reports.
4.0.6 Responsible for completing of all MEP punch items and project close out, handover
documentation and operation maintenance manual, training etc.
4.3 QA/QC ENGINEER

4.3.1 Ensure all inspections are raised and conducted as per the contract specifications,
approved shop drawings & Method statements.
4.3.2 Ensure all current issues of procedures, approved material and shop drawing and
standards are available at the point of use.
4.3.3 Ensure the total quality control for installation work. He shall liaise with Company
for inspection of installation works.
4.3.4 Inspect for any damage during, handling and storage.

4.3.5 Monitor the quality of work & insure that fulfilment of specified requirement and that
all quality records related to work are completed.
4.3.6 Ensure the work is completed as per quality requirements.
4.3.7 Contractor shall inspect the same work to initiate IRF for company approval.
4.3.8 Maintain Comprehensive inspection and test records for any further reference.

4.4 HSE OFFICER

4.4.1 Training has to be conducted and all the hazards have to be identified before starting
the work.
4.4.2 To make sure that Personnel Protective Equipments (PPE) are used by the Task Force
during execution at site.
4.4.3 Risk related to the activity shall be assessed and addressed as required.
4.4.4 To provide training for the work force in order to execute the activity safely.
4.4.5 Carry out regular and random inspection on site and record observation.

5.0 PROCEDURE:

5.1 Preparation

5.2.6 Check and ensure all drawings used for installation are latest and approved for
construction and ensure all clearances are obtained.
5.2.7 The plenum boxes/collars for grilles/diffusers as per approved drawings shall be
installed in coordination with the installation of false ceiling grid works.
5.2.8 The location of grills/diffusers shall be as per approved RPC layout.
5.2.9 The flexible duct length shall be maintained to allow for minor
adjustments/relocation of diffuser/grilles, if required.

5.2.10 Check and ensure grille/diffuser is free from scratches/defects and fit for
installation.
5.2.11 Check and ensure the dampers are properly operating.

5.2 Installation

Air Inlets/Outlets – Installed on false ceiling

5.2.1 Coordinate with false ceiling contractor for cut-out in the false ceiling tiles /
board to match the fixing arrangement of grille/diffuser.
5.2.2 Adjust the level and position of diffuser/grille plenum (as applicable) to match
the opening in the false ceiling tile / board.
5.2.3 Check and ensure the damper of diffuser/grille is in operating condition and in
full open position.
5.2.4 Fix the diffuser/grille to the plenum box/collars with screws/fasteners.
5.2.5 Check and ensure the sides of grille/diffuser are paralleled and in proper
orientation with respect to false ceiling grids or walls as applicable.
5.2.6 Check and ensure the edges of the grilles/diffusers are in complete contact with
false ceiling tile and there is no abnormal gap.
5.2.7 All necessary support shall be provided for the grills/plumbing/flexible ducts as
required. .
5.2.8 Insulation coverage/vapour Barrier will be applied as required.

5.3 INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR GRILLS / DIFFUSERS IN CEILING

5.3.1 After competition of the false ceiling work mark location of grill / diffuser location as
per approved false ceiling drawing.

5.3.2 After grill / diffuser location are confirmed by Site Engineer (HVAC), opening is to be
made in the marked place.
5.3.3 After cutting the opening, proper false ceiling support and alignment is to be done.
5.3.4 Check level of Gypsum board surface while installing grills and diffusers.
5.3.5 Grilles and diffusers should not be directly supported on gypsum surfaces. Proper
frame should be provided at the back by the false ceiling contractor.
5.3.6 Check grills / diffuser collars are securely fixed to the inside of frame.
5.3.7 Check grills / diffuser flexible connection are properly connected with duct and
plenum and also both side are clamped with jubilee clamp.
5.3.8 Ensure that the damper blades of supply grills and diffusers are properly secured in
nylon bushes for rattle free operation.
5.3.9 Check whether the items are supplied with specified fixing arrangement counter sunk
screw fixing, Concealed with clip / inside screw lever / concealed bracket.
5.3.10 Grills / diffuser shall be fixed as per given manufacturer’s arrangement.
5.3.11 Ensure alignment and joining clips are provided for all open end slot diffusers for
continuous fixing.
5.3.12 Check whether each slot is adjustable or not in multi slot diffusers.
5.3.13 INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR GRILLS IN WALL Grill should not be fixed directly on
the wall.
5.3.14 Wooden frame is to provide for all grill on wall (by Main Contractor).
5.3.15 After first coat painting grill is to be fixed in frames as per manufacturer’s
recommendations.
5.3.16 Check horizontal & vertical vanes of grills and register. There should not be any bend
and adequate support should be provided by Manufacturer if grill is long.
