Table 2. Tools and Equipment

Tools and Equipment Function

1. Tools
1. Screw Driver It is a tool, manual or powered, for turning
( driving or removing) screws.

2. Pliers It is handy tool used to hold objects firmly.

3. Hammer Use to drive nails, fit parts, forge metal and

Break apart objects.

4. Hacksaw A fine-toothed saw, originally and

Principally for cutting metal.

5. Tape Measure Used to measure distance.

6. Wire Stripper Used to strip the electrical insulation from

Electric wires.

7. Steel Square Used in measuring boards, testing corners

and tools to various angles.

B. Equipment
1. Drill Used for make holes in a various materials.

Table 2 shows the list of tools and equipment use in the construction of the

Industrial motor control with PLC based trainer. Some of the tools that are use in creating

a trainer are borrowed by our group and some will be borrow in Electro-Mechanical

Technology Department, College of Technology, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State

University, Mid-La Union Campus.

Table 3 shows the total production cost amounting to Php 89,232.00. The cost of

the supplies and materials is Php 55,770.00 the overhead cost was computed based on the

20 percent of the total cost of the supplies and materials while the labor cost was

computed based on the 40 percent of the total cost of the supplies and materials.

Construction Procedure

Figure 1 shows the steps/procedures in the development of the Industrial Motor

Control with PLC Based Trainer. There are seven stages in fabricating the machine

namely: planning, designing, purchasing, assembling, testing, revising and evaluating.

Stage 1 is planning; in this stage, the researchers planned, gathered ideas, opinions and

information to how they undergo with their project. Stage 2 is designing; in this stage, the

researchers sketched the expected outcome of their machine to be made together with its

specifications. Stage 3 is purchasing; in this stage, the researchers purchased all the

materials that they needed in the construction of the project. Stage 4 is assembling; in this

stage, the researchers assemble their project. After that, the researchers tested and revised
14

the machine in order to meet the exact requirements of the machine and to make it

suitable for the end users. The last stage is evaluating. With the help of the experts.

Data Analysis
The researchers use a questionnaires to evaluate the IMCPLCBT in terms of the

level of the technical performance, level of technical soundness and level of acceptability,

The IMCPLCBT was evaluated by ten hard technology instructors/professors from the

Bachelor of Science in Electro-mechanical Technology of the Don Mariano Marcos

Memorial State University, Mid La Union Campus.

The Questionnaires consisted of two parts. Part one includes items about the

personal profile of the evaluators such as the name (optional), occupation and filed of

specialization. Part 2 included the indicators to measure the level of technical

performance, level of technical soundness and level of acceptability of the IMCPLCBT.

Frequency counts and weighted mean used to assess the level of technical

performance, level of functionality and level of acceptability of the IMCPLCBT.

The following categorization is use to quantify and to assign descriptive

equivalents of the perceptual evaluation of the respondents.

Level of Technical Soundness

Point Value Rating Scale Descriptive Equivalent

5 4.20-5.00 Very High Functionality

4 3.40-4.19 Highly Functional

3 2.60-3.39 Functional

2 1.80-2.59 Slightly Functional

1 1.00-1.79 Not Functional

Level of Technical Performance

Point Value Rating Scale Descriptive Equivalent

5 4.20-5.00 Excellent

4 3.40-4.19 Very Good

3 2.60-3.39 Good

2 1.80-2.59 Fair

1 1.00-1.79 Poor

Level of Acceptability

Point Value Rating Scale Descriptive Equivalent

5 4.20-5.00 Very High Acceptability
