Neurosurgeon - A specialist doctor who addresses conditions concerning


the peripheral nerves and the main nervous system. These are the brain,
spine and sometimes the arteries in the neck. They are not limited to brain
surgery, they can also do spinal surgery.

Neurologist - A doctor who treats disorders in the nervous system,


including the brain, spinal cord, nerves and some of the muscles. However,
they do not perform surgery on a patient, unlike neurosurgeons.

Psychiatrists - A licensed medical doctor who cares for and treats people
with mental illnesses. Only psychiatrists can prescribe medicine for patients
with mental illnesses, not counselors or psychologists.

Psychologists - Someone who studies the workings of the human mind,


they are not to be confused with psychotherapists. Psychology can be used
to explain social phenomena. Only clinical psychologists help people with
therapy, but, unlike psychiatrists, they cannot prescribe medication to help
with mental illnesses.

Cooling the baby reduces the change of inflammation of the brain due to a
traumatic birth, where the baby does not get enough oxygen. It is the only
known treatment for reducing the risk of brain damage following a
starvation of oxygen in the brain at childbirth, so it is a very important
treatment.

Ben Carson is an American neurosurgeon who struggled in elementary


school, but started to excel in middle and high school. He went to Yale
university and University of Michigan Medical School. He was the first
surgeon in the world to successfully separate Siamese twins conjoined at
the head. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008, the
highest civilian award in America.

Charles Teo is an Australian neurosurgeon who was trained in Sydney. Life


in His Hands is about Charles Teo and one of his patients, the pianist
Aaron McMillan. He cured a rare type of brain tumour he had.
Piaget's six stages of development are:

1. Simple Reflexes
2. First habits and primary circular reactions phase
3. Secondary circular reactions phase
4. Coordination of secondary circular reactions phases
5. Tertiary circular reactions, novelty.
