Marketing strategies to sell College grown Organic Vegetables

Strategies - within the College:

1. Mark an area and put up a barrow or shed inside the college especially near the entrance
path way so that it can be visible and accessible for the College Public including,
Teachers, Students, Admin Staff members, Non-Teaching Staff members, Canteen and
Hostel staff members, Maintenance Staff members, Security staff members on the whole
more than 5000 persons will be inside the campus. We can also include public who
access our service like our suppliers, students' parents, others.

2. Make it open only for two days in a week on Tuesday and on Friday since too much of
availability will reduce the importance of our product. We have to create artificial
demand to sell the products. Timings can be from 1pm to 4 pm.

3. College Canteen and Hostel Mess can utilize the vegetables to some extent.

4. Can emphasize the USP of our vegetables like organic grown, low-priced, tasty, good
quality, correct quantity, not profit as a motive.

Strategies – Outside the College:

1. Can sell if vegetables are available on regular basis to nearby Grocery shops in
Nagamalai, supply to Hotels in Nagamalai, as they depend on our students for their daily
livelihood.

2. Can extend the same sales to MKU canteen, Senthamarai College Canteen and Hostel
Mess, all these can be done once we scale up the vegetation to more than 100 Kg/week.
Strategies – for students

1. Sales can be handed over to students of Commerce, Business Admin, and Management
Studies, so as to train them in live sales within the College. Can go for a competition
among the students like “Who sells it with innovation and competency and economical.

Limitations of our supply:

1. Since perennial supply is not assured we cannot guarantee outside customers about
availability.

2. Available products are limited, snake gourd, pumpkin, gourd, country bean, tomato and brinjal
alone.

3. Available quantities also limited to certain Kilograms like per week all vegetables put together
can be around 50 Kg only.

4. It is not economical to carry the vegetables to other places and sell. Have to include transportation
cost, Driver bata, accompanying staff salary for the day.

5. We don’t have trained vegetable vendors to sell the product.
