1.1 POWER SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
1. Rectifier:
PWM Rectifier with IGBT converts the input AC 380V to DC 740V.
With soft start technology, the rectifier output voltage slowly lifted to DC740V and no impact on the grid.
With the aid of advanced IGBT rectifier, input power factor >0.99 and input current harmonic distortion less
than 3% are achieved which mean many important benefits for you reducing the additional costs. Ensures clean
and sinusoidal input current, avoids pollution of the upstream power supply
2. Inverter:

“I” inverter converts DC 740V to AC 380V.

Combining with advanced control algorithm, effectively eliminate the output harmonic, THDv down to 2%.
3. Dual static switch:

Dual static switch is constituted by SCR and relay to ensure uninterrupted switching between bypass and
inverter. The control circuit uses "zero-crossing" conversion technology to ensure that the UPS switching time is
0ms. No matter what changes in grid frequency, the output voltage and frequency shall be stability uninterrupted.

4. Energy Control Unit ECU:

UPS5000-S use Distributed Control + Concentrated Scheduling design. The energy control unit (ECU)
processes intra-cabinet and inter-cabinet signals and status information, and transfers the information to the
monitoring module.

Key Features of Huawei UPS5000-S 50-800KVA :

High Efficiency and Energy Saving

The UPS5000-S delivers a super high efficiency, which up to 97% in normal mode.

High Reliability and Redundancy

 Hot swappable for power module, bypass module and control module, simple maintenance and expansion
in 5 minutes
 Redundancy: The control module uses a redundant design. Fans have high fault tolerance capability: In
normal mode, when a single fan is faulty, the UPS5000-S works at 50% load; when two fans are faulty, the
UPS5000-S works at 30% load.
 Concentrated bypass and no load share problems , The bypass is rather simple and reliable and
redundancy design is unnecessary

High Power Density

 The power density of power modules can reach as high as 23 W/inch3, which is the highest in the industry.
 Single cabinet power capacity up to 600KVA (12*50KVA Modules), 50% footprint saving, more IT rack space.
 Expandability: The system supports 8 units to parallel, the Maximum power per system is
800K*8=6.4MW.

High Loading Capability

The UPS5000-S has an output power factor (PF) of 1, suitable for inductive and capacitive loads with PFs greater
than 0.5. This reduces customer investments.

High Power Charge

The battery charging capacity can reach as high as 30% of the basic capacity of a power module. There is no need
to configure an external charger if a number of battery strings are configured.

Easy Management and Monitoring

The UPS5000-S supports SNMP and Modbus-TCP. It reduces management cost. Huawei NetEco 6000U easily
implements remote centralized management.

CM

1.8.2 WORKING PRINCIPLE

The monitoring system provides comprehensive system management, LCD management, and communication
management.
The CM implements battery management.
The MDU communicates with the monitoring interface card to collect the running
Information and parameters of the CM.
The MDU delivers query commands, displays collected information, and allows for user operations.
The monitoring system reports the system status and key information to the UPS5000-E over an FE or RS485
port.
The monitoring system provides an RS485 port for additional functions.

Controls the running of a single UPS5000-E and parallel system, and reports the UPS5000-E status information
to other monitoring modules.
The system provides three types of control area network (CAN) communication: monitoring CAN
communication, intra-rack parallel CAN communication, and inter-rack parallel CAN communication. Below Figure
shows the logical connections.

1.11.2 RECOMMENDED CROSS-SECTIONAL AREAS FOR POWER CABLES

Notes (50-300K):
When selecting, connecting, and routing power cables, follow local safety regulations and rules.
When the external conditions change, for example, the cable layout or ambient temperatures, perform
verification in accordance with the IEC-60364-5-52 or the local regulations.
If the rated voltage is 400 V, multiply the currents by 0.95. If the rated voltage is 415 V, multiply the
currents by 0.92.
When the primary loads are non-linear loads, increase the cross-sectional areas of the neutral wires 1.5–1.7
times.
When the mains input and bypass input share a power source, configure input power cables as mains input
power cables. In addition, cables listed in Table 3-3 apply only to the following conditions:

 200 KVA: The cables are installed along the wall or on the floor (IEC-60364-5-52 C standards).
300 KVA: The cables are routed over a ladder or bracket in a single layer (IEC60364-5-52 F
standards).
 The ambient temperature is 30°C.
 The AC voltage loss is less than 3%, and the DC voltage loss is less than 1%.
 200 KVA: single- or multi-core 90°C soft power cable with a copper conductor; 300 KVA: single-core 90°C
soft power cable with a copper conductor
 It is recommended that the 200 KVA AC power cable should not be longer than 30 meters and the DC
power cable should not be longer than 40 meters. The 300 KVA AC power cable should not be longer
than 30 meters and the DC power cable should not be longer than 50 meters.

Notes (350-600K):

When the mains input and bypass input share a power source, configure both types of input power cables as mains
input power cables. The cables listed in below Table are used only when the following requirements are met:
 Routing mode: Routing the cables over the cable ladder or bracket in a single layer (IEC60364-5-52
middle E).

Notes:
 The input upstream circuit breakers recommended in the table are for reference only.
 If multiple loads are connected, specifications for branch circuit breakers must not exceed the
recommended specifications.
 The circuit breaker selection principle is to protect loads and cables, and the cascading principle is to
realize specific protection.
