Abstract
The objective of this practice was to determine the location of the pressure center on which
the hydrostatic force caused by the fluid in which a flat surface is immersed, which is
important for the design of structures or objects that are submerged in fluids and support
loads, values of force and depth of the pressure center were obtained experimentally, with
their respective uncertainties, which were later compared with theoretical values to
determine the efficiency of the experiment by means of the percentage of error, for this
purpose weights were placed on the left side of the equipment and the system was balanced
by filling it with water, immersion depth data was taken and the calculations were made,
which filled a table of results, it was determined that the relationship between the hydrostatic
force and the immersion depth is directly proportional while the depth of immersion and
depth of the cent The pressure ratio is inversely proportional, both relations are
approximately linear, the percentage error did not exceed 3.49%, which indicated that the
practice was a success and the values obtained are reliable and have a very acceptable
accuracy. that the error propagated is mostly due to the human factor, so it is recommended
to perform depth readings by positioning ourselves against the scale of the equipment and at
the same height level.
