Subject: -04-YEARS PERFORMANCE AND ACHIEVEMENTS

OF THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT.

Pakistan Television, now a major TV Network in South Asia, started its


transmission in Black & White in 1964 as a pilot project from Lahore. At present, PTV
has its presence in Federal Capital, all the four provincial metropolis and Azad Kashmir.
PTV transmission is now available in America, U.K and 54 other countries of the world.
Its establishments includes:
 Headquarters at Islamabad.
 PTV Home, Islamabad.
 PTV News, Islamabad.
 PTV Academy, Islamabad.
 PTV Lahore Centre.
 PTV Karachi Centre.
 PTV Quetta Centre.
 PTV Peshawar Centre.
 PTV Multan Centre.
 95 Re-Broadcast Stations all over the country.
(65 for PTV Home AND 30 for PTV News).

2. PTV is a self sustaining organization meeting all its operating requirements


through generation of its own revenues. Although electronic Media has been opened to
private sector, which has created competitive scenario, but PTV still endeavoring to retain
its position on the basis of terrestrial strength and family viewing contents.

3. On the operational side, PTV has enhanced its transmissions up to seven (07)
channels with the LOGOS of PTV-HOME, PTV-NEWS, PTV NATIONAL, PTV
BOLAN, AJK TV, PTV-GLOBAL and PTV SPORTS.

4. 04 Years Performance and achievements of the different wings of PTV during the
present Government’s regime are highlighted as under:-

PROGRAMMES WING
Special Project under the title of “Media for peace” has been launched to address
the topics like “between ignorance & extremism” from protest to engagement, the
understanding extremism, radical middle way, globalised before globalization, our
mosque our future the fight of our life, common word etc. Songs were also recorded and
telecast under the said project for disseminating the message of peace.

To combat the menace of terrorism under special programme series entitled


Karwan-e-Amman Programmes like “Sofi Souls, Sufi Rang, Khuda zameen se gaya nahi,
Koun, Faseel Jan say Aajay, were produced and telecast.

Special Marathon Transmission “Life line” for the IDPs of terrorism affected
areas was launched. The transmission includes testimonial transmission programmes,
Special live coverage for the IDPs Camps for collection of donations etc.

Special Live transmission was launched to raise funds for flood affectees of
Punjab, Balauchistan, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa. During the transmission the
rare items donated by the celebrities were auctioned.
Special Programmes and documentaries have been produced and televised on the
life, philosophy and political struggle of Shaheed Z.A. Bhutto under the titles:

Special Programmes/documantaries have also been produced and telecasted on


the life and political struggle of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto under the titles:

Besides, Special Marathon transmission have been launched on the birth and
death anniversaries of Shaheed Z.A Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

Special Programmes for the awareness and empowerment of women such as


“Meena Bazar, Shanakht main hun Zindigi, Noor morning, Ghar ki baat’ were produced
and telecast.

Special Programmes like Al Quran, Arty, Socho to zara, Prizes Surprises, Pocket
money show, Adventure unlimited, You stay you win, Ghomo phiro mazay urao, Sim Sim
Hamara, Granny Sunny And science college, Science Forum, Adventure Europe and
Tamash mere agay” were produced and telecast.

NEWS & CURRENT AFFAIRS WING

 Signs bulletin has been started for deaf and dumb people.

 High- Tech News set introduced.

 Latest Technology of RBGAN is being used for receiving feed from abroad and
within the country, which is quick and inexpensive.

 Telecast programmes on social evils, hostile propaganda against Pakistan and


projected Government policies..

 Educating public on political, Economic, Social and other issues of Public interest.
 Managed live marathon Transmission on special occasions/events.

 Managed live/recorded coverage of the addresses/speeches of the


President/Prime Minister.

 Regional languages programmes from all provincial Capitals.

 Managed Live/recorded coverage of National & International sports events.

ADMINISTRATIVE PERFORMANCE
i. Regularization of services of contractual employees
from pay group-1 to 6 (equivalent to BPS-1 to 17).

ii. Re-instated employees under ordinance of


Cabinet division for sacked employees.

iii. Jobs were given in different fields of PTV


to the talent as per quota/merit.

FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE
PTV Financial performance is escalating day by day due to various affective
measures taken by the present management and has taken variance bold decisions to
increase its marketing targets by changing its programming policies. These steps have
brought significant improvement in PTV Financial position during the last 04 years. In
2010-11, PTV achieved advertising revenue to the tune of Rs. 2301 million against the
target Rs. 2100 million, which is 43% more than the last year advertising income for the
year 2009-10. (i.e. Rs. 1607 millions).

Despite operating in limits and bound of public sector, the total income of PTV
has also increased by 26% over the last year income. This is mainly due to increase in
advertising income and PTV has earned the profit of Rs. 219 million.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY WING

 Fully integrated, state of art in house software products have been


developed/deployed for facilitation of News making process, managing channels
advertising, facilitating accounting and Finance operations of PTV, maintaining
and reporting Human Resource of the Corporation.

 Established State of Art and fully equipped graphic labs at PTV HQrs and PTV
News, Islamabad.

 Successfully changes the presentation/graphics of PTV Home and PTV News


that was highly appreciated by the viewers.

 Secure network infrastructure has been established amongst various PTV


Centres in order to facilitate daily communication, sharing of multimedia data
and enabling smooth connectivity of information systems.

 Conducted onside practical trainings to promote the culture of utilize


computerized information systems for better performance and overall efficiency
ENGINEERING WING

 Launching of PTV Sports through our own resources.

 Set-top boxes have been provided to Cable Operator for wider viewership.

 Availability of PTV Signals Via Cable Television has been ensured throughout
the country.

 Establishment of 05 Nos. of Satellite Earth Stations, Multan TV (Temporarily) &


AJK, TV.
 04 No. of Drive Away DSNGS (Digital Satellite News Gathering Vans) for
unlinking provided to all TV Centres.

 Digitalization of 02 Studios.
 Modernization of Main OBS and Mini OBS Vans.

 Procurement of satellite vide Phones BGAN equipment tapeless camcorders


video wall for different TV Centres.

 Procurement materialized under the PSDP projects
