Promotion Details:
The judge(s) will select the winning entry or entries from the valid entries received
during the Promotional Period. The judge(s) may select additional reserve entries which
they determine to be the next best, and record them in order, in case of an invalid entry,
ineligible Entrant or a prize being rejected or not collected.
If winning bidder cannot be contacted for any reason, the next last highest bidder will be
contacted as the winning bid.
Reserve price is set at $20. Item to be sold at auction only if the winning bid is higher
than this amount.
Special conditions The Promoter reserves the right to request proof of eligibility. In the event that an
entrant cannot provide satisfactory proof, the Promoter may, in its absolute discretion,
disqualify the entrant.
Prize payment and pickup is due to be made within 14 days of the winning bidder being
contacted. If payment and pickup is not made within this time, the winning bidder will
be notified and the next last highest bidder declared the winning bid.
All proceeds of the Silent Auction will go directly to The Examiner’s Winter Relief Appeal,
and be distributed evenly between four local charities; The Salvation Army, City Mission,
Launceston Benevolent Society and ST Vincent De Paul.
General conditions The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost or misdirected payments.
The Promoter is not responsible for lost, interrupted communications or unavailable
network server or other connections, failed telephone, mid-delivery or computer
transmissions or other errors of any kind, whether human, mechanical or electronic.
The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any error, defect, delay, theft or
unauthorised access to or alteration of entries. If this competition is not capable of
running or being completed as planned for any reason, including because of infection by
computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, technical failures or any
other causes beyond the control of the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right in its
sole discretion to cancel, terminate, recommence, modify or suspend the competition.
Should an entrant’s contact details change during the competition period, it is the
entrant's responsibility to notify the Promoter.
The winner agrees to participate in and cooperate as required with all reasonable media
editorial requests relating to the prize, including but not limited to, being interviewed
and photographed, filmed and/or chaperoned throughout the duration of the prize.
The Promoter reserves the right at any time to disqualify any individual who the
Promoter reasonably believes has breached any of these terms or engaged in any
unlawful or other improper conduct including conduct calculated to jeopardise the fair
and proper conduct of the competition or the Promoter’s interests.
Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter excludes all liability
(including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of
opportunity); Whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way in
connection with the competition.
The personal information submitted with entries is collected by the Promoter, and will
be used for the purpose of conducting the competition (including to determine and
notify the winner) and otherwise in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Policy
(fairfax.com.au/privacy).
Entrants’ personal information may also be disclosed to the supplier of the prize and the
Promoter’s related companies.
Entrants are able to gain access to their personal information by contacting the
Promoter’s privacy officer at GPO Box 506, Sydney, NSW 2001. The Promoter may
amend these terms and conditions from time to time at its discretion.
The Promoter’s decision not to enforce a specific restriction does not constitute a waiver
of that restriction or these terms and conditions generally. The terms and conditions will
be governed by the laws of Tasmania. Entrants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the
courts in Tasmania.
