His Life and Work

Bob Graham is one of the most beloved picture-book
makers working today. A generation of children have grown
up with his books, most of which are told from a child’s
point of view, and new readers discover his work every day.
Known for their simplicity and humor, his books have won
numerous awards in his native Australia and internationally.

“I learned to draw Mickey [Mouse] when I was very young

(and when he had very thin legs and two buttons on his
shorts). My mother, father, sister, and live-in grandmother
gave me praise and encouragement enough, and I guess that

and has more or less continued ever since.”
