RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the research design, sources of data, instrument used,
respondent of the study, data collection procedure, and data analysis procedure which
are essential in finding solutions to the problems presented in this study.

Research Design

This study attempts to evaluate certain variables in the requirements to be complied

by the Terminal management in the pursuit of its operation in giving the required
excellent service to its users. Also the problems presented and the possible solutions
offered by the respondents.

This study employs the descriptive method as this research gathered information
about present condition prevailing in Bulan Integrated Bus terminal as it existed in the
time of the study. It will also explore the causes of problems in the terminal that was
revealed in the course of the study. Primary data were obtained from various reports given
by the management, this includes the ‘Office of the Sangguniang Bayan; Resolution NO.
054 series of 2007’, and ‘Municipal Ordinance NO. 03 series of 2007’ which includes the
rules and regulations on portering services and other terminal related operation.

Interviews will also be conducted to determine the operations in local revenue

collection, monitoring and traffic control, repair and maintenance of the facility, and the
safety and convenience of the riding public.
Sources of data

In this study, it will utilize the primary and secondary data. The results from interview
and questionnaires that will be given to the respondent that will serve as the source of
primary data of the research study. The secondary data came from various references
such as local undergraduate theses found at DWCL grad lib, foreign theses, reference
books, and the internet.

Instrument Used

The researchers will be distributing a questionnaire to the respondent and conduct an

interview to support and enhance the gathered data. In this method the respondents will
find it easier to give specific data and answers to the questions asked by the researchers.
This will be prepared by the researchers based on the statement of the problem and
through the ideas gained from studies and literature. The survey questionnaire consisted
of 3 parts; first part covered the profile of the organization, part two was the operation
practiced by the Bus terminal in terms of local revenue collection, monitoring and traffic
control, repair and maintenance of the facility, and safety and convenience of the riding
public. The last part is the identification of the problem encountered by the Bulan
Integrated Bus terminal,

Respondent of the study

The respondent of this study is primarily the manager of the Bulan Integrated Bus
terminal, because as the manager he has the knowledge in the operations management
services of the Bus terminal.
Data collection procedure

In order to assure the support and cooperation of the respondent, the researcher will send
a communication to the respondent, the researcher will send a communication to

cooperation in the researcher’s conduct of interview and also, the researcher will inform
the respondent the time and date on the interview.
