[ Invoking Calculation Script From FDMEE]

This hands-on document will guide you through step by step in order to invoke and execute
Essbase calculation script remaining in FDMEE. Post data load one can run calculation script and
ensure cube is available for immediate access for business users.
Invoking Calculation Script From FDMEE
This is below example, we are showing how to invoke Essbase calculation script before and after
data load event by using Event Script. FDMEE comes with prebuild capabilities to invoke and
execute Calculation Scripts for target applications. Setting up this functionality is very
straightforward and in the below configuration for a specific FDMEE location to execute a
Clear Calculation Script Before Loading Data and an Aggregate Calculation Script After
Loading Data to a Hyperion Planning application the database. This is a very useful method
to run business logics before or after data load take place.

How to Invoke calculation Script in FDMEE

How to invoke calculation scripts in FDMEE.

Setup > Register > Target Application > Calculation Script

1. First select your Target application from where you want to invoke Calc Script.

2. Then scroll down in Application details, Calculation Script option, click on it.

3. Add parameters related to the calculation script.

4. Click on green add button.

Here Important thing to remember is we need to provide same name of Calc script as we give in
Target application.

We can select any of this scope in script scope.

Highest scope to lowest are:
 Application
 Category
1
 Location
 Data Rule

Scope Entity One needs to specify scope, i.e If category is selected, as script scope then in scope
Entity we need to choose associated application category.

Event: We have four types of events which help to execute calculation script.

● Before data load

● After data load
● Before check
● After check

Sequence: We can specify any unique number in order to ensure the scripts gets executed in
order.

Then we click on pencil icon for adding parameters.

This window will appear.

Calculation Script Parameters: Script parameters used to set and pass the variables from
FDMEE to Essbase Calculation Script. We have predefined list of script values i.e PoV Period,
PoV Location, PoV category etc.

Step by step Process of invoking Calculation script in FDMEE.
I defined two calculation scripts.
1. DATACOPY command to copy data from Aug to Sep data.

2. Another calculation script in Essbas to clear data for certain intersection.

Source system: File

Target Application: Sample-Basic

This was my source file.

1.In First step we login to workspace and open FDMEE Environment.

Navigate >Administer > Data Management

3
2.Go to setup Tab Register Source system.

Setup > Register > source system

Here you can see File (source system) is registered already.

If you want to register any other source simply click on Green plus icon and you can add here
new source system.
To add new Source system
Setup > Register > source system > add
Provide name for source system, select source system likewise fill other details than save it.

3.Go to setup Tab Application settings.

Setup > Register > Target Application

Here we Invoke calculation script.

Scroll down and select Target Application --> Application Details

4
Fill details as explained above. like Script name cpyPer & calclear, select script scope I selected
category & Data Rule and value of category as actual & name of data load rule in scope Entity.
Script should trigger before data load into target so i select Event as Before Data Load.

Then click on pencil icon

As in my calculation script i was trying to clear data for Actual so here choose parameters
accordingly and save it.
5
That's all we require for Invoking calc script.

This was my calculation script in Essbase, validate it and save it.

4. Create new Import Format if it not presents in list.

If Import format not present in list than add it by click on Green add button you will have option
below to add new import format.
Go to Setup > Integration Setup select Import Format

6
Fill all the details in Details section like Name of import format than source Type as ERP,
Source as File Target Type as EPM and Select Target system. File Delimiter means your source
file contains which type of delimiter.
Then Click on save And Now scroll down here we need to define Mappings for columns. With
the help of source file line up source file column to Target dimension by providing Field
Number. As I have done above.

5.Location: Once we define Import Format define Location Here if location not available in list
than click on add Icon and fill related details.

Setup > Integration Setup > Location

To Specify new Location, give any name to Location provide Import Format Name which you
gave in last step once you provide Import format system automatically fetch all other details
related to source and Target. Then click on save.

7
6. Period Mapping: Define period mapping in Global Mapping.
Setup > Integration Setup > Period Mapping > Global Mapping

7.Category Mapping: If category exist under category list which you want to load into target
dimension than select it or otherwise create them.
Setup > Integration Setup > Category Mapping

8.Data Load Mapping: We use Data Load Mapping for map source dimension member to their
target Application Dimension member. we have various types of Data Load Mapping like
Account, measures, market, choose one of them then click on add then fill all details. We need to
specify mapping for each dimension.

first select POV (Point of view) set to Location.

8
Workflow > Data Load > Data Load Mapping

Dimension > Market

Dimension > Measures

Dimension > Product

9
Dimension > Scenario

9.Data Load Rule: We need to create data Load rule for location

After setting Data Load Mapping. We need to load data from data load Rule.

Data Load Rule: In this Part of FDMEE We will see process of Data Load and validation of
data and finally how we export data from ERP to EPM system

Workflow > Data Load > Data Load Rule

Click on Green plus icon Then in Details section give Name for Data Load rule, select Category,
select File Type as single-Period Text File because we are loading data for single Periods.

Then select Import Format and in source options select File Name as your Text File at the end
