Aim :
Hong Kong people’s happiness index is very low relative to other countries. I think that it may relate to many politics problems of
Hong Kong and some personal difficulties, and both of them are interacted on each other. For example, high property prices put
more burden on people, it leads that getting married and giving birth to baby may become dreams. So, I held a dominio game in
PolyU and invited pedestrians to write some views of Hong Kong politics or difficulties in the back of every piece of wood. I drew
rainbow to encourage all the participant that all bad things come to end, and a Bauhinia purpurea to represent HK. I held my game
about six hours. At last, I invited the last 5 participants to push all the boards down.

My Client :
Eastern CGS is operated by Po Leung Kuk. It was officially opened on
23rd September 2015.It locates at 30, Oi Shun Road, Shau Kei Wan,
Hong Kong. The Eastern CGS is made up of container modules, was
designed by the Architectural Services Department and won the merit
award under the Green Building Award 2014 jointly organised by the
Hong Kong Green Building Council and the Professional Green
Building Council. With the Eastern CGS' innovative and greening design
the site, which is underneath a flyover and used to be a temporary
parking space, has been greatly beautified. Eastern CGS not only collect
different types of recyclables, it also promotes the concept of "Upcycling ".
It mobilizes the community through enhancing
environmental education.

MATERIALS RESEARCH:
They recycle glass and plastic bottles, bulbs, rechargeable batteries and paper,

RESEARCH CONCLUSION :
As Eastern CGS is still in trial operation, so it gives me enough development space to create. Moreover, I found that
Eastern CGS has holden some workshops for promotion, and they have the perception of upcycling. However, their
workshops still not very effective for raising the environmental awareness among the community, and they do not
use the potential of upcycling wisely. So, I think that it is a rare opportunity for me to design.

I designed a logo for the whole series of my workshops. The
meaning of my logo is related to the meaning of upcycling, a HOLE
chinese common saying that it means you can lat a dead fish
CAMERA
to be alive if you get more trying(死魚都打番生), I designed the
pinhole camera with a sardine can, so I thought that a sardine
can is not just a can anymore, it becomes a pinhole camera.
So, we can discover that anything can become surprise if we
observe everything with more points of view, not judge
anything to be rubbish. Although the process of studying a
material is not always smooth, if we are persevere with our
goal, that we can get something interesting and surprise us.I
thought that the manner and concept of upcycling are really
like the chinese common saying.

Problem brief:

No matter you want to travel with your family or have a business trip in some tropical countries (e.g. Philippine,
Thailand or Hawaii), you frequently g et into the trouble of flight delays, and some of the airports of this countries
lack of amusement facilities for children. You need to rest or sleep in the airport for long periods of time. Although
there are many chairs in the airport for people, they are not comfortable enough for passengers to lay down.
Passengers may feel clamorous and cold in departure hall. The security of luggage also makes them cannot have deep
sleep. Active and restless children may feel boring to sit in an old-fashioned chair and lead to wander away. So, I want
to design a new sitting object to resolve the problems.
Design Brief:

I will design a new sitting object for the passengers who are waiting for the flight in the departure hall. It is flexible
as it can be transformed into different form. So the passenger can sit in different position even lay down for a deep
sleep. It provides cover to separate the light and noise. The exterior appearance will include some characteristics of
the country or interesting elements of travel. It not only attract children to sit, but also let people relax.

Design Specification:

Functions: A sitting object for the passengers who get into the trouble of flight delays
Target Audience: Passengers who are waiting for the flight in the departure hall

• The footstool(the peel of the coconut) can be put on the top
side of the chair, it is for covering and separating the lignt with the
people.
• The foam is suitable for people to sit or lay down as the soft and
thick material, it also let people keep in the normal temperature of
the human body.
• The drinking straw is made in plastic and is flexible for peo-
ple to tie a knot, so the chair can hold the travel bag tightly.So, they
can sleep more relaxing.
