 UP Code, Chapter 50, Article 346, On
Attendance: “20% rule”
“When the number of hours lost by
absence of a student reaches 20
percent…”

 In practical terms, when your absence for the


lecture reaches 4, you will be given a grade
of 5.0 (if most absences are unexcused ) or a
DRP (if most absences are unexcused).
 Ifyou are late (arriving in class 11 minutes
after the time or 8:41), you will be
penalized = sing 5 lines of a song to your
classmates’ satisfaction OR get a 5- point
deduction in your QEA points.
 The said policy is an off-shoot of the UP
Code’s Article XVI, Attendance. Sec 41.
Instructors shall control attendance by
reasonable penalties or whatever measures
seem best adapted to the circumstance.
 Ifyou arrive at 8:41 AM, considered
“late” - you will sign on a
“highlighted” space.
 SINGING BEE to be conducted when
there is time.
