1. Objectives
• To design an analogue electronic system which is useful and interesting
• To construct and test the operation of the system
2. Instructions
You are required to design and construct an electronic system using one or more of the
following building blocks of analogue electronics:
• Operational amplifier • Phase-locked Loop
• Digital-Analogue Converter / • Precision rectifier
Analogue-Digital Converter • Logarithmic amplifier
• Filter • Analogue multiplier
• Oscillator • Voltage regulator
• Multivibrator • Power amplifier
First, you are required to propose a useful and interesting (commercial or educational)
analogue electronic system that uses one or more of the building blocks listed above. You
will need to set the title, objective and design specifications of your project, explain why it is
useful and interesting and propose briefly how you will implement the system. If the
proposal is rejected (e.g. too simple or using same hardware as another assignment), you will
have to modify and resubmit.
Submit a one-page proposal in pdf format to ngcb@utar.edu.my by 5 pm, 30th Jan 2014. In
your e-mail please state your group members’ names.
Example:
Dear sir,
Attached is the proposal for UEEA1333 assignment. Our group members are:

You will be informed of the proposal acceptance/rejection by 8th Feb 2014 through WBLE.
Once the proposal is accepted, you may then start developing the system. Where applicable,
use software simulation, calculations and experiments to help you develop the system.
Construct a prototype of the system on breadboard and test it at the lab (you may use any lab
with the lab assistant’s permission). You will need to purchase your own components from
an electronics shop.
Finally, you will be required to demonstrate the hardware of your system (breadboard is
acceptable) and to submit a report (one report per group) on your project.
3. Assessment
The assignment contributes 10% of your overall marks for the subject. All components
(hardware demonstration and report) must be completed, otherwise the marks given will not
be more than 4%. Plagiarism or late submission will be penalized or rejected.
In the hardware demonstration, you shall show that your hardware is working, explain its
operation and whether it has achieved the specifications. Marks will also be given for
presentation.
