Lesson Title/Focus Module 1- Introduction to google docs

provide a reflection after to explain the positive and negative aspects they experienced
while exploring how it works.

programs they have used and the
MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT
 Alberta Program of Studies – ELA Grade 7
 YouTube Video’s on how to use google docs and google hangouts
 Various Websites on how to work google docs and google hangouts
PREPARATION & LOGISTICAL CONSIDERATION
 Have all of the information set up for the students
 Be available for students if they may need assistance (through e mail)
ASSESSMENTS
Observations:  Whether the students provided a comprehensive
reflection on their experience using google docs
 If the students provided negative and positive
aspects of their experience with the program and
why.
Essential Question:  How can web- based resources help us in creating
our work?
Products/Performances:  Students will work towards an understanding of
how to use google docs and how to become
comfortable with the program

PROCEDURE
Introduction

able to submit a video instead of a written
reflection.

through google docs

Rationale
 How does this This individual lesson scaffolds learning for students as it
individual lesson provides them with a chance to learn about google docs and
scaffold learning become comfortable with the program. This way the students are
opportunities for able to initially learn about the program and how to use it, and
students? then they can learn on how to be a bit more creative with it during
their writing. I am giving students the opportunity to write their
reflection or record it in a video or audio format. I will also have
“google add ons” which will help students who may need more
support with using the program. With all of these options and
resources I hope to make the environment comfortable and a
place where everyone feels as though they are learning and can
learn.

does this lesson make This lesson assumes that students should have a basic knowledge
about what students behind
already know?  Basic knowledge of computers and how to use them

 In what ways is this This lesson is connected to the next lesson as we will be
