Product: VFD Control Cabinet

Problem: A VFD cabinet that does not meet Engineering's safety standards has
been found in the Conroe facility. These standards require all high
voltage terminals to be covered or finger safe.
Figure 1, Figure 2 and Figure 3 demonstrate examples of what
Conroe Engineering considers unsafe cabinets.
Solution: If you have similar cabinets, please do the following:
1. Cover any exposed high voltage components (terminals,
fuses, transformers, reactors, plugs, receptacles, etc.) with
Lexan glass. Figure 4 and Figure 5 show what Engineering
considers safe practice. Lexan glass can be commercially
bought at a local Home Depot.
2. NOV Engineering has developed a comparable unit at the
cost of $35,000. This cabinet is readily available to you and
we recommend using them in the future. The part number for
the cabinet is 23904. Figure 6 shows the new cabinet.
Drawings, wiring diagrams and spare parts are in Symix.
The unit is purged and pressurized, designed to meet NFPA
496 design safety standards and is suitable for use in
hazardous locations.
