Choose a positive character trait of the person who is the subject of your book that is revealed in these
chapters of the book. Write about that trait showing evidence from the book that reveals that trait in
the person’s life. You should use a direct quotation from the book, examples that illustrate the trait,
and/or the testimony of someone who talks about the person. (RI.10.3/RI.10.1/W.10.2)
In this assignment it is your job to find connections between the biography and the outside world. You
are looking for something that reminds you of something else you have seen. This means connecting the
reading to any of the following types of connections:
Self—connect to happenings at your school, in your family, or in other areas of your life.
In this assignment you will create discussion questions for your book that would be good in a discussion
group. Write at least 3 questions that cause people to think deeply using starters like Why, If, What,
Who, and How. You must use higher order questionings like the Bloom’s Que Questions (Right column of
attached sheet). You must thoroughly answer the questions you create in a paragraph (If you cannot
answer in a paragraph, you question is inadequate). This assignment should also meet the spillover
requirement. If you do not fill the page, it indicated that your question may not be a deep-thinking
question, or you just did not answer it adequately. NOTE: You may use all the chapters you have read to
create these questions) (RI.10.2/RI.10.1/W.10.2)

BIOGRAPHY ASSIGNMENT # 4: Observations Due Friday, October 19, 2018
In this assignment, you will share observations you have made about the person your book is about.
This should be different from what you discussed in Assignment # 1. Select two adjectives that describe
your character, support this decision with evidence taken from the book. Justify (explain or prove) your
reasoning behind selecting this quote or excerpt. (RI.10.3/RI.10.1/W.10.2/W.10.4)
You must summarize the entire book using a flow map. The Table of Contents will help you find the main
ideas. You should have at least 10 major boxes with two minor boxes for each major one. When I read
your map, I should have a complete summary of your book. Remember to use only the main ideas in
the large boxes with important details in minor boxes. After completing this portion, create two
smaller boxes under/beside each main box with important details in them.
(RI.10.2/RI.10.1/W.10.2/W.10.4)
You must create an artistic representation of the material you read. This should include the title and
author of the book , photos with captions, quotes from the book, information from other sources with
citation. This may be completed in one of the following formats: poster, mobile, powerpoint
presentation, or one of the ideas attached. You may be creative and come up with your own idea. A
one-page response explaining your representation is required. An oral presentation may also be
required. This ties the entire project together. Therefore, I want to see that you have grasped the
content of your book.
The entire Journal assignment is due on November 30,2018. I expect you to turn in all 6 assignments.
You should have cleaned up each assignment after it has been graded and returned to you and
improve it. Each assignment will be assigned a major grade, but the entire project will count as
another major grade. You are responsible for keeping up with your work and turning it in on
November 30.
