This year, on November 22nd, the 40th anniversary of the first commercial flight flown by the
Concorde to New York from Paris and London will take place. Unfortunately, this wonderful and
majestic plane will not be able to commemorate this anniversary in flight, as it should have
been.
To commemorate this event, we created a World Tour which will take you around the world to
some of the many destinations the Concorde has visited. So, come and join us in this wonderful
adventure.
Pilots completing the tour will earn the SST Supersonic WT award.
Disclaimer
This world tour is dedicated to pilots able to fly the Concorde in supersonic conditions on the
IVAO™ network. You need to be able to master all phases of flight, including supersonic mode
as well as complex procedures. You will need to follow and scrupulously respect flight plans
including very specific flight instructions.
If you are unable to fly the Concorde in these conditions, we advise you to train on several
flights before starting the tour. If you are still not able to fly the Concorde properly after training
flights, then maybe this tour is not for you. It will avoid you being disappointed and having many
rejected legs.
Concorde is a bird that needs to be understood and tamed. So, if you are able to fly the
Concorde, welcome aboard!
• Only one leg (one take off) is allowed per day (00:00UTC to 23:59UTC)
• All ICAO codes are accepted in the flight plan (click the arrows at the end of the row for the
correct departure/destination codes for your FS2004 or X-Plane, if applicable)
• Flights can be performed with Concorde and Tupolev TU-144only
• Military airplanes are forbidden (even supersonic ones)
• Maximum cruise level betweenFL450 and FL600 (block altitude)
• Maximum allowed speed isM2.04
• According to real procedures used by Concorde crews, after take-off the maximum allowed
speed of 280 KIAS has to be observed below FL100 (10000ft.) due to noise reduction, for initial
climb only. If you fly in a controlled airspace, you will have to request permission from the
online ATC to accelerate to 280 KIAS below FL100 (10000ft.)
• For arrival and approach, the maximum allowed speed is 250 KIAS below FL100 (10000ft)
• Some specific waypoints called "protected points"(PP on the Nav logs), will let you know from
where you will be allowed to accelerate over M1.00 (Departure), and where you will have to be
under M1.00 (the deceleration takes some time and distance to be under M1.00 on the protected
point for the arrival)
• Flight plans are predefined and must be scrupulously followed and respected, unless otherwise
instructed by online ATC. In case of direct given by online ATC, report it in the comments field of
the PIREP

General Information
In this document, you will find all the information you need to perform your flights for this world tour. The
information is given on a NAV log (1 for each leg). Routes are predefined to respect the supersonic
rules.
Remember that flying at Mach 2 speed you will need a lot more distance to decelerate and descend to
arrivals’ flight levels than with any other aircraft.
The following recommendations may be applied to all Concorde flights while flying the SST Anniversary
World Tour.
Departure
- Concorde flies at 250kt (or 280kt on pilot’s request) below FL100 (10000ft) and has an average climb
rate of 3000fp/min.
- Between FL100 and FL280, Concorde flies at 370kt, with a climb rate from 2800 to 4000fp/min.
- When FL280 is reached, Concorde flies at 530kts until reaching the protected point (PP)
- When protected point (PP) is reached, Concorde accelerates over Mach 1.0 and climbs by using
block altitudes (FL320FL450 then FL450FL600).
- Climbing is made gradually based on fuel consumption, (by balancing the fuel tanks), the cruise level
is not fixed and therefore changes all throughout the flight. Generally, Concorde cruises between
FL570 and FL580 during a transatlantic flight.
- Based on available information, the Concorde’s “normal” take off distance is 3200 meters / 10500ft,
which can be reduced observing specific procedures and depending of passengers, fuel and cargo on
board.
- Based on available information, Concorde’s “normal” landing distance is 2400 meters / 7900ft, which
can be reduced somewhat observing specific procedures.
- Since the Concorde doesn’t maneuver like any other aircrafts, (delta wing), it’s necessary to anticipate
turns, especially the last one to avoid the Concorde to overshoot the runway axis (average of 4 to
5nm for the ILS/LOC interception).
- Below FL100 (10000ft), Concorde respects the speed limit of 250kt.
- Average Concorde’s Vref is 185kt.
- Concorde is equipped with B-RNAV (RNPS) – INS (or GPS on a few add-ons) but doesn’t have any
FMC!
Navigation/Route
As the Concorde did not use a FMC, but rather a Delco Carousel IV-A Inertial Navigation System (INS),
nicknamed "CIVA"(see index 1 at the end of the document) and knowing that some of you don’t know
how to use it, you will find specific files to perform the flights under GPS mode (under FS2004 and
FSX/P3D format). Some of those files don’t include SID nor STAR, because some airports are usually
under radar vectoring. Those files will lead you until the IAF (Initial Approach Fix), from where you will
have to use the charts based on the runway in use in case there is no online ATC.
Warning!
If you decide to use the GPS flight plans, you have to set-up your plane at the gate before opening the
flight planner to load your flight. When you load your flight in the flight planner, your simulator will ask if
you want to move your aircraft to the Departure airport listed on the flight plan. You have to answer NO,
otherwise you will appear on the active runway, which is forbidden.

For the 1stleg, you will fly the Concorde from Paris Charles de Gaulle
to New York JFK, using the famous “Sierra Mike” NAT (NATSM). NAT
SM was one of the three NATs used by Concorde.

index 2 & 3).

de Gaulle by executing the "Supersonic loop" which was regularly performed by
Air France. Even if it’s a rather short flight, it’s a technical one, especially the 240°
right turn at Mach 2.
